    Good afternoon lovely ladies

Very quiet on here, hope you all too busy fabbing to post.

What's that Feng Shuey saying, something about if you ditch the old you make way for the new.......

Well as you know last week I turfed out my winter wardrobe - in fact I dropped off a bag to the chazza this morning. Then I popped into Sainsburys and did a huge stock up. As always I had a quick look at the sale rale in the clothing dept and picked up a lovely charcoal grey woollen poncho. Perfect for those in between days when you need something but a winter coat would be too much. Well at just £9 it would have been rude not too.

I also picked up my new Senior Railcard so am ready to book my trip to Bonnie Scotland.

Some good news.......my parents cottage has now found a buyer. A single lady so hopefully she will lavish some much needed TLC on it and restore it to its former glory. Although I was half tempted I decided against it, because I knew my dad would have been apoplectic at any changes I would have made. He thinks central heating is a wanton extravagance......:rotfl: so he would have been appalled at me ripping it apart to add some 21st technology and some creature comforts.

I would have turned it into the cutest little house but he would have been breathing down my neck unable to stop himself from interfering so I decided it just wasn't worth the hassle.

He is finding it very hard to let go bless him, he even wants to take the "fox head" door knocker with him. Don't know quite where he's going to put it but if it makes him happy.......

So starting tomorrow, for the next couple of weeks I need to roll my sleeves up and get it all cleared out ready. Although I have been doing little bits my dad has slowe me down with his indecision and inability to part with anything.

Anyway I think we have more or less rescued his treasures so I can now crack on. I can understand how he feels, we are talking about 65 years of married life and memories. It will be sad to see their little house go and the contents scattered. It really does feel like the end of an era.

Having lost both my OH and my mum I can honestly say that "things" have no meaning for me now. I have obviously kept a few small items for sentimental reasons but I'm very philosophical about letting go of stuff.

I said to my sister the other day, now that mum has gone and dad is becoming increasingly more childlike we are now "the family elders"....the matriarchs. What a scary thought.:rotfl:

And of course me being the eldest and the bossy one you can guess who has been crowned chief matriarch of the family.

I feel like doing a runner........I'm far too young and dizzy for such a role. I should be frolicking on a beach somewhere or shacked up in a hippy commune or artists colony.::rotfl:

Maybe its time to do a Shirley Valentine.:D

At any rate it's definitely now a time for out with the old and in with the new.

    Fab Friday !! Enjoy.....

I made a start on my parents cottage yesterday, the car is loaded for a tip run today, so although I will definitely make a special effort for Fab Friday I shall be dressing for practicality rather than full on glamour.

    Although.......

A couple of weeks ago I did a tip run and whilst I was there I noticed two very glamourous ladies. They were obviously dropping some stuff off before going on somewhere, my guess is a very posh lunch or maybe even a wedding judging by the way they were dressed. One of them in particular looked especially stunning. I noticed they received a lot of help unloading their car from the men who worked there. :D

It s a glorious day here, so I i tend to get the sun lounger out and soak up those healing rays later.

    Have a fab day.

    Afternoon All

It's glorious sunshine here and I've just got back from the hairdressers and feeling very Fab. With all the outdoor pool swimming, early morning runs and tennis I have gone a lovely golden colour which looks really healthy without being over tanned. I'm wearing white cropped jeans, a turquoise vest top, flat white loafers and a blue and white striped cardigan. My hair is looking great courtesy of the hairdresser - a chin length blonde bob with lots of golden highlights - and I'm wearing a silver necklace with blue teardrop pendant and antique silver drop earrings with blue stone. I got a couple of compliments on how healthy I looked this morning and how the turquoise top brings out the blue in my eyes so am also wearing a very sparkly and happy smile!!

Add to that the fact that my daughter is home for the weekend and we are having a big family buffet later and its no wonder I'm feeling fab. I hope everyone else is having an equally good day.

On Sunday I'm doing the 10K race I have been training for so hope it's not too hot. I didn't lose all the weight I was aiming for but am revising my challenge date to the end of July when DH's son is getting married. It should be easily do-able but I am too easily tempted by too many treats to lose it quickly. Still as long as I keep losing slowly I shall eventually get there.

Right, I need to start sorting out the food for tonight. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Not been posting because the forum's been playing up and irritating me.

I've had my hair done today too rose. Range of blonde highlights, chin length bob and very happy with it. Sounds like you've got a great weekend lined up.

Sun shining makes such a difference to my mood!

Joining in fab Friday with jeans, white top, blue and white scarf. Quite a nautical look.:) Still in blue denim, haven't ventured into white or cropped yet.

Not sure about the tip LL, but I think if you make an effort, look smart and smile you generally get treated better anyway. Certainly feel better in yourself so anything else is a bonus.

Just over two weeks to my holiday and we've bought proper wheelie cabin bags for the first time. They'll be useful for mini-breaks but we're experimenting with just one hold bag between us this time too. So I need to start thinking about minimal packing. It's the books that are a problem but I've still to fancy a kindle or similar. Still an old fashioned gal.;)

    Maman,

I never thought I'd like a Kindle but love mine particularly for holidays. I still mainly read proper books - 3 or 4 a week habit - from the library but love being able to take as many as I want on holiday with my Kindle. It's also great if you want to read a sequel as you can get it immediately - though I mainly download free or special offer books. When I first got it I downloaded loads of classics, including all my favourite children's books such as Anne of Green Gable and Little Women. If a friend has one why don't you borrow one to try it out - it's well worth it for holidays alone.

maman - hope you have a fab holiday... You might want to look up the KonMarie thread on the forums, or youtube Marie Kondo videos to help you with packing. I do all of my wardrobes/drawers etc to her eccentric folding techniques and never have I had so much room!! I always just wear my trainers out there and buy a pair of flip flops once there that I can throw away or leave in the apartment on leaving ;) practicality... I also buy my swimming costumes/bikinis whilst there!!

Not feeling particularly fab today after a very stressful day at work. I have decided I must telephone the hairdressers tomorrow and get an appointment for Tuesday when I am off work and my hairdresser is in. It will likely be the last time she cuts my hair as she is going on maternity leave for baby number 2 and not coming back! I hate changing hairdressers... she is the best one I have had in years!

So... tonight I am going to go for a walk, have a soak in the bath, and then tidy up my nails and even paint my toenails. :j will moisturise and hopefully feel a bit more relaxed than I have all week thanks to my crazy job and crazy bosses.

Have a lovely evening all xx

Thanks all for the tips about packing and Kindle.

I've done a little bit of Kondo. All my jumpers and tops, undies and nightwear are suitably folded. What's amazed me is how having sorted them I've kept them that way for months. Will take the tip and transfer it to my packing.

It's amazing what you can fit into a suitcase with careful folding and rolling... and possibly through sheer force of will :)

I've also had my hair done today (cut and colour) and painted my toenails volcanic orange! (I had my waxing done yesterday...)

I intend to visit the MAC concession at the airport tomorrow, as I picked up new foundation last time, and now want to get them to give me some more ideas on what I should be doing with my makeup.
