Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015

Hi ladies
Thanks for the good wishes, I am surprised by how quickly I've settled having never lived away from my parents before.
I've lost 7.7kg so far which I'm really pleased about and I'm well under the 80kg barrier now. Thankfully I can still get away with my holiday clothes (we go on the 9th) but when I get back I will sell/donate/throw them all. I have to say, joining Weight Watchers has been a very positive thing as it's helped to keep my focus.
Coursera is also a good one for free short courses; I've done one from there before.0 -
I went to a party tonight and got compliments from my mother in law. she usually makes some kind of negative comment. Fabbing must be working.:j1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Hi ladies, just catching up with all your news and fabbing. Sorry I don't have time to reply to everyone at the mo, but I'm with you in thought.
I've had a tough few days with not much fabbing. My mum is 86 with lots of health problems ( she is visually impaired, can't hear well, has angina and emphysema but still smokes). I'm an only one, so for the past 14 years I have taken much of the responsibility of looking after her and my Dad but Dad died 12 years ago.
Anyway, yesterday she had a fall and we rushed over in the morning. She was finally admitted to hospital where we spent about 6 hours in A & E and they are keeping her in for a while. After the fall she was unable to stand or move, even with help so she can't be at home. We are meant to go on hols to Norfolk on Monday and we really need a break - it's 8 months since we last went away for a week. I was thinking of cancelling, but now I'm thinking we have more chance of getting away while she is being cared for as once she is home (if that's still an option) I will be worried about leaving her. Feeling a bit conflicted about it all.
Thanks for letting me get it all out there an hope fulling fabbing will resume soonCrazy clothes challenge 2017 - 30/3000 -
Sorry to hear about your Mum rowan, hope you can manage to have your holiday as it sounds like you need, and deserve it.
Thanks for telling us about coursera dd - I'll check that out later.
Parsniphead hope you felt like a million dollars!
Just enjoying the quiet for a bit, then shower, moisturise and perfume!
Might be a day for joggers and sweatshirt today though - the weather calls for cosy clothes, I think!0 -
Didn't want to read and run.
Definitely go on your holiday rowan. I 100% agree with your reasoning that it's far better to go away knowing she's safely looked after than 'home alone' where you'd need to make other arrangements.
Enjoy your break, forecast's good for later in the week. I enjoyed a few days in Norfolk last year mainly Norwich and NT properties. It's a lovely county.:)0 -
Just dropping by to,say sorry to hear you news Rowan.
I agree wholeheartedly definitely go on holiday next week whilst you can. Your mum is in hospital for observations, they can have your phone number just in case and you will still be in the UK, if absolutely necessary to,get back in a hurry.
Have a restand recharge your batteries, then when you get home you can take it from there, .theres not much you can do at the moment so take a much needed breather.
Hope the weather perks up for you. It's dire here today.
I'm going to clean the fridge and a couple of kitchen cupboards and then do a bit more sorting in my bedroom.nearly finished.
I am feeling throughly fed up at the moment so just going to grit my teeth and plough on......
Ive got a couple of house viewings booked for next week but tbh Im getting throughly cheesed off with the whole house hunting thing. If I don't fancy either of these then I'm going to put it all on hold for now.
It's getting close to the 1st anniversary of my husbands death and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find any kind of serenity or calm, my emotions are in turmoil, my body is rebelling, sleep and tummy problems and stress levels through the roof.
I need to,try and take a step back and just focus on getting well and healthy, so that is my goal for June.0 -

I fancied a bit of a browse today and picked up these in New Look.

The crossover back t shirt will be ideal with my shorts on holiday and the scarf looks good as the stripes all blend together when it's folded. Ideal for when I'm wearing black jeans or cardi. It's strange what you find when you're not really looking.
I bought some intensive conditioner too. My hair needs it now and again but I mainly got it for holidays as swimming, sun and more frequent washing can dry my hair badly. I've got a hair appointment for Friday, so dead ends can be trimmed.
Off to get the dinner going. Back soon.:)0 -
Hello!
I am a newbie, having only just come across this fab thread. I am already doing so much of what you are all attempting to achieve. I've lost 10.5lbs, cleared up my skin, stopped migraines in their tracks, and cut down dramatically on the mountains of tablets I take for various ongoing issues with my back & allergies with the ketogenic diet. Recommended by my Dr. I am definitely a convert to the extra energy, great skin etc, but it is taking me a lot of mental effort to continue the diet and kick the habits of a lifetime when it comes to chocolates and sweets.
If you will have me, I'd love to join you. The little things I am doing include walking (all I am allowed) for exercise.. a bit of strength training to help my back, epsom salt baths, coconut oil in my hair and diet, moisturising (infrequently.. must do better) & trying to sleep more. I need to start doing more with my hair and get it cut as it is desperate. I also need to invest in a decent razor
Rowan I am sorry to hear about your mum. My mums mum is the same age as yours, but with alzheimers. She only recently lost my Pop (Mums dad) in April and it is proving ever more difficult to look after her, especially as mum in mostly doing it on her own. She is also undergoing chemo, which makes it hard and she has had to call in the carers for my Nan each day now to take some of the strain. You need a break. I really hope you go away knowing your mum is in good hands... You deserve to know she is safe and have a good relaxing time away from it all to recharge!
Lessonlearned I am sending you some big hugs. I hope the turmoil calms down... Take some time for you xx
