Booked in for a manicure tonight. Does anyone have any preference over gelish or shellac? The salon do both and I am wondering if one is better for the nails?

Maman – totally agree with the healthy eating and the ‘I’ve blown it stuff it scenario’. I’ve got in to if I’m healthy eating 80% of the time then the other 20% isn’t too bad (hopefully). Or if I know we are going out for tea or something similar I will be extra restricted throughout that day and the day after.

LL – Eyebrow powder is becoming a staple of mine. I treated myself to the HD brow palette which I love and would recommend!! Sorry to hear you have been feeling low, sending some uplifting hugs :)

Rose – Can I be really cheeky and ask how much you lost and what height you are? (sorry I’m a nosey one :P) I’m hoping to get down to 11&1/2 stone. Well done for keeping it off though, I think that’s half the struggle! I’ll be joining you in the wardrobe sort this week!

    Dd265 – enjoy your new home :)

Pirateyqueen – I haven’t had shellac personally but it is the ‘original’ of the team so to speak and it very well raved about in the beauty world. Equally I have had gellish and not an issue. If there is no price difference it maybe that it comes down to colour options in which case go for either. I hope this helps in some way.

Sorry I know I will of missed some of you, here are some hugs :D

I am looking forward to going and having proper HD brows done on my day off next Wednesday!! I was booked to have them done at Christmas and my friend who does my nails said she did them (I knew they weren't the official one's but I felt a bit obligated and went to her for them). They were OK but nothing like the real thing so I've booked myself in. My brows are finally growing out from being the overplucked thin things that were all the rage 10 years ago and I do treat myself every few months to a freshen up of the shape. I'm still keeping up with having my gel colour on each month, I love them and will defiantly be keeping it as my treat even after the wedding :D
My eating has faltered rather this afternoon at work but I will be reealing it back in tonight *smack on the hand for me* :( Work is stressful as the final 5 weeks roll up to my final date of redundancy - 30th June. Looking forward to the change in my job, it should mean that I have more time for myself, keeping up at home and everything else. Not just work work work and then a little more work :p:eek: I do have some social time in, but I really feel pushed for time all the time at the moment so will be a refreshing change.
Right that is enough of me babbling on sorry.

Hugs and wishes to all xx
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

    Afternoon All

New Thrift I am only 5 foot tall and today weighed in at 9st 6.8lbs. I am aiming for 8st 12lb. I lost about three and a half stone about 3 or 4 years ago by calorie counting and then over the last couple of years went back up to over 10stone again so have been aiming to lose some over the past ten weeks. It's going off very slowly but is going down and I am eating really well. I tend to eat low carb and avoid bread and cakes and sugar. I don't eat pasta or rice much anyway and try if I am eating potatoes or something else carby to do it on days that I have done some cardio exercise. I still eat butter, cream etc and some days chocolate.

Today is my busy day exercise wise as I had a run this morning and I have Circuits and Aerobics tonight. It was a long slow run this morning - run 3 minutes and walk one minute for eight miles. It's actually the run I enjoy most as I am not cut out for speed and my friend and I just jog along having a really good chat.

I have been too busy to sort out my wardrobe this week - extra work and extra days with DGD with it being half term. I did treat myself to a couple of new vest type t-shirts last week so have been wearing those when I exercise. They also work well under tops as an extra layer or as a modesty panel under a V-neck. I shall have another cull next week and have promised myself a shopping trip when I am down to target.

One thing I really need to sort out is my feet - with all the running I have a couple of blisters that are turning hard, and although I haven't got cracked heels or hard skin my feet don't look very nice. I was wondering about visiting a chiropodist for advice - my Mother loves going to hers. Some of the people who go to my Pilates class have really lovely feet. Now mine are never going to be described as lovely as they are short and fat (only size 3 but very wide) but I am sure they could look better than they do. Like you VJ's Mum I also have bunions - even though I always wore well fitting Clarks shoes as a child.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

I can only speak for shellac. I've had it for about the last two years and it's brilliant stuff. Lasts me up to three weeks and then I only go back because of regrowth. I'm currently having a polish free break because my nails had started splitting at the sides. On reflection that was probably only partly the shellac but also because they were catching where I'd had them cut straight instead of rounded. I plan to have the shellac done again for my holiday at the end of June and meantime just keep up plenty of oil and handcream.

I enjoyed the 'babbling' newthrift. I use a soft pencil on my eyebrows but always have them shaped professionally. They always do a better job than I can and then just keep it up with tweezers in between appointments.

I'm happy to say I'm 5 ft 9 and 10 and a half stone. That may sound heavy to some but for my height and build it makes me a smallish size 12 and I'm happy with that. Any lower and I start to look scraggy.

I thought you would!;) If your plan is to lose a bit more then you don't want to buy too many new clothes, just enough to tide you over. Are you still doing the Paleo..ish plan?

If it's possible to do Wonderful Wednesday (Fab Friday early;)) then I've had a good day. Been for lunch in a country pub with a group of former colleagues, some of whom I've known for 30+ years. I had loads of compliments about how good I was looking. I did look smart in my preppy sort of uniform of dark denims, white t shirt and blue and white stripey scarf but I think it was the fact that I've lost the weight and kept it off that was making the impact. I've said it many times but although it's a struggle to lose the weight it's soooo worth it. :D It's not just vanity but it makes me feel so much healthier and literally lighter on my feet.

Didn't go into town today - youngest preferred to get stuck into revision to traipsing round shops with me - don't blame him!
Couldn't find the mojo to go on my own - just as well because I felt really out of sorts for most of the day - tired and full of aches.
So a bit of a "meh" day today, and now, after feeling shattered for most of it, I know my mind is going to start buzzing as soon as I climb into bed and stop me from sleeping!! Grrr!!
Anyway, to quote one of my movie heroines "tomorrow is another day" - hopefully I'll feel a bit more energised and less achy in the morning:)

Thanks! I went for shellac in the end, as the woman said that she mainly does shellac and doesn't do much gelish. We cut them down short as they kept breaking, so now they are all one length (and blue!) they look nice and neat. Hopefully they will grow now they are protected, which is what happened last time. I am being religious with hand cream and nail oil so hopefully they will get quite healthy.

I am going on a hen do next weekend, so I am hoping to do some fabbing this weekend in preparation. I want to do my roots and do a bit of shopping for some new PJs and slippers (one of the nights is a pyjama party) and I have a nice black dress and heels I can wear. I'm looking forward to it! Just wondering if I need some body lotion with a hint of tan to help my pasty legs… Anyone recommend a good one?

Have had another cull of the wardrobe and chest of drawers and sent two large bags of so-so clothes to the donation bag. It's a great feeling actually being able to see the clothes that make me feel good and not having to dig through the rest of the stuff.

Well done on the clothes cull. It does make you feel good doesn't it. I still have some way to go, then im going to tackle the towels and linen and then I need to start on the kitchen.

I remember "ra Barras" from when I lived in Helensburgh. I used to,love going up to Glasgow. You triggered some happy memories of days out in Glasgow, shopping in Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street. There was an amazing sea food restaurant whose name escapes me - something like Rogan's Bar??

Then on Sunday's we used to go down to LArgs to an Italian ice cream parlour called Nardinis - happy days.:rotfl:

I feel really awful today. Instead of keeping off grains I bought some "free from" foods. Well they may be free from gluten but they taste foul, the list of ingredients read like a chemistry experiment and they were outrageously expensive, even though they were on offer.

Never again;) I will definitely stick to Paleo, and if I want cake or biscuits I will have to do my own paleo friendly baking.

I didn't get the flat, the vendor decided to up the asking price by £40k so I walked away. There will be something out there with my name on it, I'm not going to be rushed or panic buy.

So all in all not the best of days, but as Ellsbell reminds us - "tomorrow is another day" ;)

Going to have a nice quiet evening, a bit of TV and a manicure and hope that my tummy feels better tomorrow.

    Don't forget Fab Friday tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed Wonderful Wednesday, Maman.

Meant to say Dd265' hope you are settling into your new home. How exciting.

    PQ. Enjoy your hen weekend.

Rose - I get a lot of wear out if vest type tops too, especially as modesty panels. A lot of the v necks do seem very low cut at the moment. I wouldn't dare!!

Right time to get the dinner on......

    .

The seafood restaurant is still there, just off Buchanan Street - Rogano's. Beautiful place like so many old restaurants in Glasgow.
