Ah, bless your nanny......my auntie S developed Alzheimer's - it was the local shop who alerted us to the fact that the disease had progressed from "charmingly vague" to full on memory loss. Apparently she was buying bread and cooked ham as if it were going out of style, telling the shop keepers that her children really loved ham sandwiches. Bless her, they knew she lived alone and that her "children" we're in their 40s and had long flown the nest. It's so sad.

MAman - The Kondo lady doesn't say you don't need storage, just not to buy any more storage solutions until you've finished discarding. Sorry I didn't make myself very clear. I love my new ikea wardrobes and I took full advantage of the inside storage bits and pieces you can buy for them. I just love looking inside my wardrobes now, everything is so neat......they give me joy.....

I need to get out more!!!:rotfl:

    "If I were rich luxuries"...........

Definitely with you on the personal hairdresser and masseuse. My other one would be a chauffeur.

My OH always referred to himself as the chauffeur. I am happy enough driving but I must admit I do like someone else to drive so I can sit back and watch the world go by.......

My other luxury would be clean sheets every day. I Love slipping into bed when the sheets are fresh on that day.

And obviously a maid to make that bed and just generally clean my house and look after me.

Oh and a first class cook.....and a gardener........and an odd job man and...... And........:rotfl:

Perhaps I should have been Waity Katy.

Nah - could never fancy Wills.......too wet for my tastes. Harry maybe, he looks like fun......;)

I definitely said I want a masseur not a masseuse!!;)

I enjoy driving. I'm a dreadful passenger but maybe sitting in the back and waving languidly could get used to it.:D

I am definitely with you on Harry over Wills. And wouldn't want the unbearable pressure of having to look perfect a few hours after giving birth no matter how many people I had to come and make me look that way! How exhausting!

Managed to do 20k steps today. A lovely walk out along the beach in my skirt and t shirt without getting cold. Needed the vitamin D boost ;) am off for a nice hot bath with epsom salts. Have a good evening all xx

    Good Morning All,

I too would have a personal hairdresser if my Lottery ticket came up. My hair looked lovely all weekend after having it done on Friday. I shall wash it later today but am waiting to see if I go swimming this afternoon first. At the moment I've got it clipped up as it looked a bit sticky outy when I got up. I'm still in my running gear as I've just been out for a gentle run. I did my 10k race yesterday - it took me 1h 3 min and 59 seconds. I was really pleased with that as when I did the same race 3 years ago - and weighed half a stone less - it took 1 hour 7 min and 7 seconds.

I am definitely back on the weight loss journey now - though yesterday I ate just what I wanted. DH took a video of me running - which I promptly made him delete as I was horrified. I had thought I looked quite trim but my rear view made me cringe! I'm going to try and give up sugar completely as I read a really thought provoking book on the subject last week. I have been cutting down on baking etc but realised I am still giving DGD sugary treats more than I should be when she comes round and equating feeding the family with chocolate and other sugar based items as spoiling them. I don't want DGD to grow up with a sweet tooth so am going to try and find other ways to give her and the rest of the family a treat.

I had a lovely weekend. My daughter and partner were up for a wedding but we still got to spend lots of time with them. DS and family and my Mother came round too for a lot of the weekend and yesterday afternoon we had a great game of tennis - DS and I against DD and partner which DS and I won.

I'm about to go out for a bike ride and out for lunch so need to go and sort out an outfit that's practical but looks nice too.

    Have a good day everyone.

Rose what was the book you read? I would really like to read it. I have cut out sugar entirely from my diet, bar the incidental 15 grams or so which comes from eating a healthy dose of veggies each day and I have never been better, had more energy or been as healthy as I am. The weight is dropping off me and although my rear view is just as frightening to me, as yours is to you, I am getting there slowly but surely. The one thing it took me a rather long while to work out was that I needed to replace the sugar with fat. Seems a crazy change to make, but has paid real dividends - coconut oil is my best friend.

Sounds like lovely weekend. I didn't get my bath last night. A feverish and slightly delirious DD came to me as I finished my post and I spent the rest of the night sleeping fitfully while she coughed and spluttered and boiled her way through the night. She is fine this morning. I am haggard and need that bath! Have dropped her at nursery, temperature, tonsils, ears etc thoroughly checked. Like father like daughter, they burn it off overnight. I had a quick walk but spotted the BT engineer finally, so now that my line is up and running I will be off out to continue my stroll :)

Have a lovely day all. 3 more days of work until my holiday for me! (not going anywhere :( but doing a charity walk for Breast cancer care around Leeds Castle with mum. :) Will be a few days after her last chemo session so it will be a steady walk but we have raised over £500 between us :)

In recent months I have been very aware that even eating too much 'healthy' fruit can add to the sugar content in your diet. Sugar is sugar however natural.

I haven't cut out sugar completely, still have a couple of squares of 70% chocolate most evenings but I'm in control rather than the other way round. I think cooking from scratch is a big help as then you know what you're eating as ready meals can have a high sugar/salt/fat content while you can produce almost the same recipe at home without them.

DH has been cutting down on biscuits for the last couple of weeks (preparing his beach body ;)) and has been parading around in a pair of trousers this morning that previously couldn't do up. He's happy!!:rotfl:

I actually steer clear of fruit altogether, as I am ketogenic for migraine and this just adds too many sugars for me to stay in the state of ketosis at a level which stops the migraines. I eat salads and story fry like it is going out of fashion though :D and I take a supplement to cover anything I might be missing out on in this stage of the diet.

I'm with you on the chocolate, although mine is 85% green & blacks! ;) I can't stay away from it so limit myself to 4 square maximum on a bad day but usually just 1-2 squares on a good day. You don't need nearly as much as you seem to with milk chocolate ;)

Makes me mad how quickly the men can lose their weight :p mine sticks like glue, but my mum keeps assuring me that even if I can't see the weight loss yet, I've lost tonnes of pure fat from around my vital organs. I take that one to bed with me at night when I've sneaked a despairing glance in the mirror :rotfl:

Lilt The book is called That Sugar Book by Damon Gameau. For 60 days he ate supposed 'healthy' food with hidden sugars to correspond to 40 teaspoons a day which is the amount many Australians eat. He didn't eat sweets, chocolate or anything but things like low fat yoghurt and cereal bars that a lot of people think of as healthy. He put on 8kgs even though he reckoned his calorie intake stayed the same and his liver started going fatty in just that short time. It's a really interesting read and his 'experiment' was filmed as a documentary.

I try to limit how much fruit I eat and get most of my 5 a day from vegetables. I quite happily eat butter and double cream too. I cook everything from scratch and don't buy processed foods. In fact the nearest I usually get to opening a tin even is tuna and salmon.

I've just got back from my bike ride- 7 miles each way and had a lovely lunch. Smoked salmon platter with salad and mayonnaise. It was supposed to be served with bread and butter but I asked for extra salad instead. I did have a Luscombe Raspberry Crush with it though, which is organic but had a little sugar in it.

I can just picture the scene :rotfl:

Why is it men can just shed the lbs with ease when for most women it seems to be more of a struggle. All they seem to have to do is cut back a bit and they lose the extra weight In no time. Must be their metabolism or maybe it's linked to higher levels of testosterone....

Anyway I had a very productive day, managed to get through all dads paperwork for the house sale. Just waiting for the solicitors to clear up a couple of things and then I can put that one to bed and let the various solicitors and EAs get on with it.

I'm off to the cottage again today for another sorting session, followed by a tip run, I shall probably get quite grimy so will save Todays pampering until I get home.

I have been working on my skin, legs, heels, elbows were all really dry so ive been giving them some extra TLC. Feeling much better now, although ive noticed the skin on my shins is particularly sensitive at the moment.

found your discussions about sugar very interesting. It's so difficult avoiding sugars, even the most innocent looking foods contain hidden sugars and of course we know that the flood manufacturers pile it into food we buy.

I think the best we can do is try and cook from scratch as far as possible and then go easy on fruit etc. I read somewhere that the fruit we buy today has been modified to accommodate our sugar addictions. Apparently fruit was not traditionally as sweet as it is now, especially apples.

I agree about a bit of good quality chocolate - if I allow myself a little bit of good chocolate it is enough to satisfy any sweet cravings I might have.

    Right time to,get cracking.

    Keeeeep fabbing.
