On the sugar conversation: I don't have a massively sweet tooth so I suppose it is easier for me. If I'm faced with a choice between cheeseboard and dessert it's the cheese for me every time. What got me thinking was that Slimming World revised their list of 'recommended' fruits back in January. So while no fruits are banned bananas, kiwis, mangoes, pineapples, blueberries and grapes aren't on the list any more. SW suggest that a third of everything you eat is fruit and veg but to focus on the lower sugar varieties. It's just a way of balancing what you eat really in favour of 'healthy' as opposed to 'treat' foods.
Done a bit of fabbing today. Hair looks OK but definitely not as good as hairdresser.:( I decided to defuzz legs too in the vain hope that enough sun might appear. As it's two weeks today before I go away I thought I'd add some self tan to the body lotion only to find the bottle almost empty! I've just used basic Johnsons Holiday Skin before. I don't know if it still exists! I tend to use it to give a bit of colour now and then mixed with body lotion to extend the life of natural tan later.Any recommendations?
Out later for a meeting then a carvery with a few colleagues so I'll get dressed/made up properly but casually for that. It's a relatively healthy meal compared to eating out in some places. I've learned to avoid the massive Yorkshires, try to go easy on the roast potatoes and then fill up with loads of veg.:D
Hope everyone's having a good day. It's bright here but windy and hardly flaming June!!0 -

Afternoon Everyone
I've just got back from a trip to the cash and carry for work and waiting for it to be time to go and collect DGD from school. Her parents are having a night away so I've got her overnight and will be taking her to school in the morning. I was planning to take her swimming straight after I pick her up as the outdoor pool is only 5 minutes walk from school but I am not sure it will be nice enough. The water is lovely and warm but as she can't swim properly yet I get a bit cold when I can't swim up and down. I did have a half hour swim at 7am which was lovely though.
I'm pleased with my outfit today. I bought a top from a charity shop for 99p the other day. I think the reason it was so cheap was the sleeves- long, droopy and too wide from the elbow downwards. I figured for the price it was worth getting to see if I could do something with them - and did. I've shortened them to three quarter length and quite close fitting and it looks really nice. It's a brown, black and white mottled print with V neck and crossover bodice and seems to really suit me. I've teamed it with cream crop trousers and cream loafers and a pretty silver necklace and earrings with bits of green stone in them. I pinned my hair up for my swim this morning as I didn't want to wash it twice in one day if I was swimming this afternoon and it has survived quite well.
I had a gentle run again this morning, just under 3 miles, but could feel it in my legs after having swum too. I was hoping to fit in a quick game of tennis with DS before he and DDiL go off for the evening but he has had to wait in for a delivery that hasn't come yet.
I am back on my low carb, healthy eating and have a new incentive to lose a few more pounds over the next couple of weeks as my Ex husband is over at the end of the month to stay with DS and family. We get on very well and we will all probably have a family get together so I want to look as good as possible and show him what he is missing!! Only for my own vanity really as I adore my DH and have no regrets about the split, which was a mutual decision at the time ( over 10 years ago) and before either of us had met our current loved ones.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Rose - of course you want to look good to show your ex what he's missing......:D
Your outfit today sounds nice and summery and what a bargain with the top.
I popped into my favourite chazza today and picked up two linen Skirts for when the weather gets hot - a cream wrap over and a beige floaty number, both calf length to hide my awful legs....:rotfl: I need to get out the fake tan moisturiser.
Maman - I've got a dove one at the moment, seems ok.
Had a nice lazy pamper yesterday evening, mani and pedi, nails painted. Keeping up the intensive mousturising to feet, knees and elbows.
Have spent the last few days either sorting out the cottage or filling out the paperwork for the sale. All done now and delivered to the solicitor. Another two or three days at the cottage and then I think I'm finally done. Phew.....
Maybe when I get back from Scotland I can get on with my own life :rotfl:
I'm actually feeling a bit miffed because, despite giving up the last four consecutive days, plus two days last week, running around for him and doing everything for him, I haven't had so much as a thank you. Hey ho, there you gO.
He will get a shock if I decide to swan off somewhere warm for a few months next winter. I am currently investigating long stay holidays for January through to March. Ive discovered that I can rent a small apartment for around 300 euros a month in places like Spain, Malta, Morocco, Italy or the Canary Islands so im mulling it over. I think I prefer that option to a fancy pants cruise.
Oh and I used to visit Spain a lot in the winter, often staying for around 4 to 6 weeks. It really breaks up the gloom of an English winter. Realistically there's nothing to stop me now that OH and mum are sadly gone. I'm as a free as a bird so maybe it's time to spread my wings a little.;)
Today dad did nothing but moan about how his new neighbours keep inviting him to their little soirees, coffee mornings, tea parties etc
I lost patience and told him he was rude and anti social but if he wanted to wallow in self pity and misery then that was his choice. I told him He just doesn't know how lucky he us, having two daughters to help and support him, having friends and neighbours inviting him out.
I think it went down well.:rotfl:0 -
I'm just having a relaxed start to the day, catching up on all your fabbing.
Maman I'm pleased you husbands beach body is coming along nicely. :j I agree with LL, it does seem that men can often shed the weight quickly once they start.
Rose your summer outfits sound lovely, thanks for sharing as it is giving me inspiration.
LL I hear you on the subject of trying to help ageing parents - not always easy or appreciated.
I haven't done much fabbing other than the usual. My Mum is still in hospital and although she seemed much perkier last night (amazing what antibiotics and not chain smoking can do to help a chest infection) she's still not able to stand and they are doing an MRI scan today to see if she has broken bones in her feet.
Anyway, as this is going to be a marathon and not a sprint I've decided to have a couple of days off visiting (other people will be going). So today the sun is shining, I've had a lie in and breakfast in bed, put the bedding in to wash, am going to give the house a clean then out to buy some lovely food for my 2 long time friends who are visiting tomorrow. May check out the charity shops while I'm out, and also fit a bit of fabbing in too - want to do mani and pedi and put some fakey tan on my deathly white legs. May even throw on a face and hair mask while I'm at itCrazy clothes challenge 2017 - 30/3000 -

Oh poor you. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Lots of rest and TLC.
its a glorious day here, third lot of washing on the line. Going to sit out in the garden later, a bit hot at the moment and no real, shade., the trees and shrubs I planted are doing well but they are still babies. Need to buy a garden parasol next time I'm out and about. Or will that bring back the rain.0 -
Rowan - glad to hear your mums chest infection is improving. Hope all goes well with the scan.
Talking of feet. Instead of just visiting my usual chiropodist who does a quick tidy up and sorts out corns and callouses I have booked a consultation with a podiatrist next week.
I think i have a fracture and although I know they have to heal naturally it's been over a year now so I think its time for a second opinion. The Fibro clinic also recommended some orthotics so rather than buy the wrong ones i thought I would get the podiatrist to give me some advice.
More money........
I am afraid the older I get the more high maintenance I become.:rotfl:0 -

Hope your face settles down very soon pq.:)
It's been glorious here too today.
I've been very indulgent:o. We went to a mayor's Charity function which involved afternoon tea. Decided my healthy eating could go hang for a few hours and ate all sorts I wouldn't normally think of. Balked at cupcakes (far too sickly for me) but had all manner of sandwiches and scones.:D
Got fabbed up with light make up and wore a silk dress (one of a very few things I kept when I put weight on). I can't bring myself to wear tights on hot days so my deathly white legs were on show too rowan. At least they were defuzzed!:rotfl:
I think the podiatrist is money well spent LL. After just having pedicures for a few years I had an appointment with podiatrist in April and delighted with the difference just in nails alone. I'm going again before my holiday and will paint my nails myself afterwards.0 -
Pirateyqueen hope your mouth is healing well. Can I ask about your wisdom tooth please? My dentist said I had some decay under one of my wisdom teeth and should think about having it removed. it doesn't hurt though so I am putting it off - not sure if that is a good idea. Eeeek.
LL I have never visited a podiatrist so might have to give it a go. Hope you enjoyed relaxing in the garden yesterday, Derbyshire was certainly looking beautiful in all her leafy glory.
Maman wooo hooo, all dressed up for afternoon tea, how fab is that? I hope the Mayor appreciated your fabbing
Have a fab Friday everyone :cool:Crazy clothes challenge 2017 - 30/3000
