Worried about dad's fitness to drive

When I was at school I had a Saturday job as a van driver's assistant. When we were waiting at give way lines, he always expected me to look left while he looked right. If I said go he would just go without looking for himself.
I never ask anyone to look for me, and never take any notice of anyone who does.
How would you know he has not looked if you yourself are looking left?0 -

Not sure if you are being facious or not?
Nearly weekly you will read news articles of some wanna be young one wrapping themselves around a tree or lampost with fatalities, there was one down south of the UK just before xmas, Ok, what if the Goverment said right then at 50 years old, you have to hand back your license , nature dictates that our sight and facilties are not what they are when we were 20. If you are all going to attack the aged then don't be two faced about it, there is a hazard and a risk, in an ideal world there would be no accidents, however there are and it's not often to do with age.0 -
Now the Police have 'Cassie's Law' to assist them. The Essex Police link mentioned in an earlier thread was referencing an accident that happened in my home Town a year or two back. My son actually passed the scene 2 minutes after the crash, so didn't find-out the outcome until he arrived at colleage.
The driver had been stopped the day before over an incident in a supermarket filling station, but the Police were powerless to do anything.
Thanks to Cassie McCord's mum, Essex Police, The local newspaper & several MPs, a law was passed giving the Police the power to remove the licence from anyone they believe to be driving dangerously.
Within the first day, it was used 7 times.
As for whether or not someone is fit to drive, that decision rests with the relatives of the driver concerned.Never Knowingly Understood.

Previously, police could request DVLA removed somebody's licence - but only in writing, by post or fax. All that happened was that they could also request by phone or email. A fax is _just_ as quick as an email or phone call.
