If someone is in the car with me, I expect them to be an extra set of eyes at junctions etc.

    Well, quite.

I distinctly recall my driving instructor telling me it was clear to pull out when it wasn't - precisely to teach me NOT to believe passengers, but to rely solely on my own decision.

Crikey...good job you didn't have an issue, then? Otherwise, your instructor would have some serious explaining to do.....?

[Even if the instructor took action..ie braked on dual controls....having mislead you deliberately, would mean they would be in a corner when you challenged them for what they did....]
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Insurance companies treat older drivers as better drivers (lower premiums) and they have all the accident statistics.
Anyone got better information than them?
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

Maybe because they do 2 miles a week to the shop and back.
Just a shame that one of those trips has them mounting the pavement and wiping out a family.

Not a good idea to make assumptions.

Only up to a certain point. Middle-aged drivers have the lowest premiums, with premiums rising for elderly drivers. A lot of elderly drivers will also fail to report the minor damage they cause to their insurers, either because they're completely unaware of parking dings and scrapes or because they'll pay to sort it themselves.

Why are you shocked? Are you saying the passenger does not hinder the drivers view?
