  • Well said.

Whether its true or not, its still advice that needs to be given to protect people who read instead of post.., against LL's who think they can do things like this (who definitely do exist).

You are in a house of multiple occupancy (HMO) but for council tax purposes this means that if you all have signed one tenancy agreement (a joint tenancy) then you are liable for the council tax.

Unless the property had been constructed or adapted for multiple occupancy in which case it's a council tax HMO regardless.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
  • No further news? Did the LL try to enforce the eviction yesterday?

If I were the OP, I'd be thinking you could all go to hell for making assumptions about me and my brother.

We won't be missing this young lady and her brother any time soon. If only you knew! She has now vacated the premises.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

    Hi ryanandsue,

Could you possibly give us some more info, we'd all be delighted to hear the full story!

    Ye course you are…

Just on the very small off chance that this is real (which I calculate at being 0.0001% likelihood) you do realise that just because she’sleft doesn’t mean the tenancy has ended….

Sounds to me like illegal eviction. So if real, which again i have significant doubts, expect a lawsuit coming your way (http://nearlylegal.co.uk/blog/category/housing-law-all/unlawful-eviction-and-harassment/)
