            Not a chance in hell of that being above board. Do nothing and let them work it out. Continue paying as you should. But also expect to be leaving once they have sorted them selves out (well into the new year though).0

            Surely if it is a shared house, and the ll doesn't live there it must be an HMO?
 They sound pretty dodgy imho, you would be best off out of there anyway but they can't just turf you out, and I would be inclined to ask the council exactly what these people say the house is being used for, chances are they haven't been honest on the register...There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.0

            In the email from Sue and Ryan to Carla they mention the tenancies will not be extended past fed 2015? see below
 "As much as we like having you all live in the house, it is unlikely that we will be able to extend your tenancies beyond the end of February 2015.
 I hope that is helpful."

            I agree with the others that your LL cannot demand you leave my high noon tomorrow.
 I wonder if you're actually living in a HMO in which case the council tax bill should be paid by the LL. I'd check what constitutes a HMO with your local council.
 Also, stop communicating in email with your LL. Start sending letters, get proof of postage.

            As already said your landlord cannot evict you without going through the correct procedure. Seek advice from Shelter if things turn nasty.
 You are in a house of multiple occupancy (HMO) but for council tax purposes this means that if you all have signed one tenancy agreement (a joint tenancy) then you are liable for the council tax.

 If you have individual tenancies (and it sounds as if you have) then the landlord is liable for the council tax.
 Landlords usually recoup this by including this in your rent. I do not believe that they can 'bill' you for the council tax if you are not liable. if it is included in your rent then this is what you agreed to originally and presumably the inclusion is explained in your tenancy agreement.
 If the LL is 'billing' you for the council tax then I suggest you speak to Shelter.
 But .............first check whether you are liable - joint tenancy agreement or individual tenancy agreements?0
