What did I mention about virtuous posturing?

Deposit protection regulations have been a shamble. It is easy to get caught on a technicality.

Yes, TECHNICALLY the LL didn't protect the deposit. Just a technicality...

I certainly will not be a rogue landlord, I know that the deposit should be protected, so it will be.

I'm sure there are many accidental landlords out; letting their mothers house to pay for care home fees or they'd bought at the peak of the market and were unable to sell when they relocated due to a new job.

The law should never be ignored if the situation allows it? I take it that you've broke the speed limit or checked your phone while driving. You've never thrown a census report in the bin and you've always paid your TV license......

So? Ah just more excuses. Accidental or not. The law is the law.

Correct on all counts. If you have proof otherwise, please send it lancaster police station...

'Entitled'? Ah, at least you're honest enough not to pretend that you are not in just for the money.

People always feel entitled when it's time to receive, interestingly...

You obviously didn't read the post, as I made clear that all I received was my own money back, which the LL was trying to keep.

You seem upset... Has your GF's bit on the side been texting at all hours again? :kisses2:

    Stay strong bro...

    Ha ha ha......

And there goes your whole argument.

    What a silly boy

So OP benefitted from LL giving her a low rent and now wants to benefit from his paperwork failure.

Have you read the thread? The rent is not low at all. He just didn't put the price up in the last 3 years.
The prices around here went crazy because of this crazy house market.
Unless you think that £1200/month for an ex-authority 2 bedroom flat with a small balcony is cheap….
BTW I have never said I am planning to screw the LL over his lack of compliance with the law regarding my deposit.

OP: "will the council provide any storage if I go to a B&B?"

    Wow. Entitled much?!

Wow. I can pay for storage you know. When I was trying to leave my abusive relationship someone told me that if I end up in a refuge the council could provide temporary storage. That is why I am asking. The council charges rent for temporary and permanent accommodation AND storages. I am not being entitled but I know the council has storages everywhere and they have schemes to rent it out.

    Love the Freudian slip, OP:
"social housing. I know it may be a bit unsettling for my child at the begging"

    At the beginning.
    What is the problem dear?

Hmm, some thoroughly unpleasant people on here, presumably posting from their ivory towers.

All I see is a lady trying to do the best for her daughter, someone who is not a 'scrounger' but rather works two jobs and is also trying to improve her lot by studying, but who is naturally concerned about how she can continue to do all this following the communication from her landlord. Why all the vitriol? Personally I can only admire her!

Deleted_User, ignore the unhelpful comments and best of luck to you.
