hi, does this sound like a daft question?... how do you decide what a realistic monthly grocery budget is, how are you doing it? do you have a certain amount for each adult and nipper or just trying to knock it down by a fixed amount every month, plsehelp, cheers pats:rolleyes:

    Hi looyates -

I think the advice is to add up all your food receipts the first month and see how much you usually spend. Then try and reduce it slowly each month ;)

My budget started from what we can afford to spend on food each month (cash not credit). For us we budget £350 but aiming for £300 this month after cutting back. If your not sure just keep your receipts for a month and see how much you are spending.

Everyones budget is individual, mine includes nappies for littles one (night time only), toiletries, cleaning stuff etc. Other include take aways etc.

Feeling a bit silly but understand why posts appear as they do thanks to Mike D!

Thought I wouldn't have to shop today, but 'popped' into Waitrose to buy the special organic cotton loo roll my sensitive OH requires and saw that they had a special offer on wet wipes as they were discontinuing them. I bought the last five packs @99p each instead of £1.45 and have just put £2.30 into my PMS. I reckon it's ok if I have the discipline to put the savings away and with you lot watching I have to do it! Thanks!

Have volunteered to take MIL to Sainsbury's tomorrow but am going to try really hard not to spend any more money till next week.

Will update my signature in a mo, but supper calls!

Thought it was thursday so really was 1 day and 2hrs early, this meant I had no dinner with me, as I thought I was eating at home, so had to buy something. Spent £2.60 on a single blackpudding..... I know its the 9th but I am going to join your shopping budget club! This month I will collect together all my recipts and see how much I really do spend feeding my OH and myself and two kittens. I get the feeling it will be a HUGE shock. We really need to rein in our wasteful spending so this will really help. I am really looking forward to the challenge. Think I will have to leave OH outside when I go shopping though as he's terrible at picking up the most expensive things when we shop!!!!

Oooo! Aaaaah! Yes! Yes! Yes! Now that's much better, I'm feeling :j & :T, you are an :A

Right then, back to business. Tesco delivery yesterday and came in at £67, less than I thought .I'll have to watch what I spend in between my fortnightly deliveries as it is regularly coming to around £20, it shouldn't be that much just for milk and veggies. Note to self: "KEEP OUT OF M&S" :o.
