Thank you for your adoration folks, but my success is all due to Discount codes and vouchers thread, Tesco H&B to be precise, and the lovely people who supplied me with some of the coupons I needed. I,ve also sold a few bits on ebay, and my DD and her freind have bought from other sellers, used my paypal account to pay for them and givin me the cash. It all helps the cash flow

  • Well I'm back from my hols, what a nightmare so glad to be home (with a tan)

Could not get the tesco shop ordered before i went away so spent last night doing it as soon as i got home 8pm last night and managed to get it delivered this morning. Spent just under £150 then realised when i was putting it all away that i had missed 1/2 dozen things i wanted so had to pop to tesco this afternoon to get them ended up seeing a few offers and spent another £50:eek: so not impressed with myself :(

its been all my careful budgeting for the holiday i come back and go to pot.

oh well now got to go work out how much i am meant to have for my shopping budget.
    Still Trying :o

I popped into the local Co-op this afternoon as I needed one tomato (honestly!), and ended up buying a bottle of wine, some bananas, a carton of orange juice and two bottles of shower gel. However, the shower gel was a bogof, and the total came to £7.90. I was able to pay for this with the £5.00 in dividend vouchers I had forgotton that I had in my purse, so I actually paid out in hard cash just £2.90.

I have put the £7.90 on my weekly spend though (see updated total in my signature) and also put £7.00 in my PMS (the £5 voucher and the cost of the 'free' shower gel). So I am well pleased!

We are going to the Brecon Jazz Festival at the weekend, so I don't think I will need to go shopping again until we come back (food for the weekend coming out of the 'holiday' budget). However, number 2 daughter and my parents are coming to visit the weekend after next so am bound to go over then. We'll see...I am going to try my hardest, without being mean. I have plenty of meat in the freezer, so it will mainly be extra veg and fruit and milk. Let's hope this nice weather lasts. I'm off to water the pots in the garden!

Hi all did my first weekly grocery shop today and spent £18.93 :j It should have come to £22.52 but I got a few BOGOFs and saved £3.59 so really pleased.

Did a shopping list before I went out this morning and realised we didn't need that much so wrote a list and stuck to it apart from the Heinz baked beans I bought (the only ones OH will eat!!) which were reduced to £1 for 4 pack so bought two packs. (This saving not included in above savings cos can't remember how much a 4 pack ususally costs but only ever buy them when reduced!)

If I can only keep this up I will be well within budget:D

Went on a mystery shopping assignment to a supermarket (which shall remain a mystery for obvious reasons!). The job was to buy a 5 pound CD for which I will be reimbursed. But of course, we ended up buying 2 packs of frankfurters (only way DH agreed to go with me), a pizza and curry from the clearance section, shaving gel, chickpeas (5 tins for a pound) and a toaster! Came to approximately 13 pounds of unnecessary food since I will be taking my parents out for a big shop on Friday!

I think I'm going to have to give up mystery shopping! It costs more than it brings in.

My last three posts have displayed an 'edit' and 'quote' button in them and not a 'thanks' and 'quote' button. Does anyone know why this is? Have I done something wrong - or is it just my computer? Can anyone out there tell me if it looks ok to them? (I notice that I did get thanks from 3 people for my last post so maybe it's only displaying wrongly on my own pc). Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question!

Thanks anyway to all you posters. I really enjoy reading your messages and getting inspiration to keep going.

Hi Moniker, you won't get a Thanks button because it is You who are posting. The edit button is for any afterthoughts after you have posted.

If you want to thank yourself, just say to yourself "Thanks very much Moniker" :rotfl:

Made a visit to Tesco today as I have got some good moc's for toiletries and need to stock up for the holiday -also nappies are on offer at 1/3 off which is a real saving so needed to get some as well as wipes - I did quite well although spent £28 but that includes big pack of nappies 6 packs of wipes and a bag of frozen chick breast - so thats another £28 spent but I hardly paid anything for the toiletries and I was really careful not to pick up the usual bits that I tend to do on impulse (I took a list and stuck to it - well almost) also the tesco own laundry liquid is reduced to £2 at the moment which is good so got 2 of them..

I would usually have picked up something for myself for lunch (and wasted a few quid) like sushi but i didn't and came back and made myself a tuna butty instead which was yummy as I did it with a baguette dh bought home from work yesterday (he runs a canteen) actually don't know if this is a tip, or if everyone knows this but i sprinkled some water over it and bunged it in the oven for just a few minutes and it was just like new again!!

Anyway will add my new total to my sig now...
