So today I wore a mermaid tail on the grounds at work.

Had to explain to to the security guard looking after the film set and cuddled his puppy.

Not a bad way to spend the day it has to be said.

In other less interesting news I've go the paypal payment for the first of the two app mystery shops I did last month, money has been extracted from paypal and will be paid off the credit card on Monday.

Just went outside to put my rubbish out and found that a parcel had been left in my side of the utility cupboard, I'm annoyed as the delivery co havent bothered to put a card through and must have delivered either this morning or yesterday evening as it wasn't in there when I came home from work yesterday.

The upside is its the parcel with the cheap trail shoes I wanted for when I do my tough mudder, a bottle cage for the bike so I can actually access water while out on a ride and a new pair of cycling shorts as while my running shorts are fine most of the time at the moment I seem to be constantly looking for a clean pair.

Earlier on I went out for a walk to work out a longer run route so I now know that the canal path round to the main military road (open to the public but could be closed at any time should security require it) and back home along said road is roughly a 6 mile route, I was out walking for about 90 mins enjoying the sunshine.

Was it one of the notorious parcel companies?

Six miles in 90 minutes? You walk quick...

It was TNT who usually aren't too bad locally.

I do, the sad thing is I run at 5mph, while I walk at 4mph. :(

Today has been frustrating. Knew it would be a long day but had admins nagging me all the time, and followed it up with my ops manager saying good bye at 6pm when I watched her arriving at work 2 hours late and 3 hours after I arrived without her offiering to help me clear upthe dining room from the group who arrived an hour late then spent 40 mins longer than planned over their cream tea.

Still this time Friday I shall be safely back in the north and hopefully getting outside of a bottle of wine or two with my mum.

That's quick walking - I had a mate who walked quickly as well. I used to frustrate him as I walk at about 0.5 mph...

Annnd home. Liver slightly abused (but less so than normal). Skin somewhat discoloured by exposure to a nuclear based light source. Bank accout rather emptied.

Mum's birthday treat of the night in the v.v posh hotel and a couple of spa treatments she loved.

My friend did pick me up at Gatwick, we decided to treat ourselves to a middle of the night McDonalds - y'know like we used to when we were falling out of various pubs - and she's asked me to be Godmother to the baby, my assumption is that I've been picked to be the "what not to do" example of life and to teach practical skills like How to be mermaid. :D

This morning saw me extract myself from my bed at the ridiculously early hour of 6am, to drive to the lake to take part in the first of my open water swims this year. 1500m in 39.02 mins, which was a few mins quicker than my sister (because we'll never grow out of sibling rivalry).

    Back to the money stuff.

Today I have to pay my car tax £30 for the year.
Sort out my travel for Tough Mudder later in the month.
Decide if I'm going to book the Brownlee Tri in Leeds and pay for it today before the price goes up, and then reserve a room at the Wakefield hotel we usually use (the Tri is the same date as the proposed Wakey weekend).

I've also just withdrawn £15 from my paypal account.

Cycled to my friends house in near town this evening for pizza and a couple of glasses of wine while her hubby was out for a couple of hours. Baby was having a whiney evening and apparently sitting on my knee doesn't help - so we have confirmed what I always knew, babies and I are not a natural fit.

Thankfully it didn't rain while I was cycling there and by the time I was headed home again the showers had stopped again which was nice, certainly made it a slightly less painful journey.

It'll be different if you have your own. If you have your own, you can plonk them down on your friends' knees and laugh yourself silly as they whine on and shit themselves.

Then your kid will start creating, and then you'll have to do something...
