Another 8 miles on the bike - over to Mr T to pick up some vaguely healthy food for dinner - think it's going to be quiche, salad and boiled baby spuds.

Somewhat amusing conversation at the check out - so are you going to the gym? I was stood there wearing my cycle helmet so I could pack my shopping in to my backpack. Erm no, just rode here. Oh are you on a motorbike? I've always wanted to have a go on one of those. And they wonder why the stereotype of a checkout operator is that they're a little stupid.

Another work day, spend £9 on two bottles of wine, one of which I took to acolleagues house this evening. 2.5mile bike ride took me about 15 mins, drank the wine cycled home. Really good to spend time with a work friend I rarely see outside of work, and we might be going to try one of the pubs between our homes tomorrow afternoon.

Things I have learned. My colleague lives far too close to me.
I should possibly not drink a bottle of wine then cycle in future.
    I need to cycle more.

  • Hey, I used to work on a checkout! Believe me, the majority of customers were stupider than we were...

Well done on the cycling. No idea how you manage to do it after drinking — I have enough trouble balancing when sober! Though the same goes for walking :rotfl:

So did I, and was often annoyed by the stereotype but interactions like that as a customer really do make you question how some people are trusted with a till and cash!

I felt ok while I was cycling but after eating dinner and having another small glass of wine I felt utterly trollied, it was a really odd feeling.

Having something of a stupid day today - had planned to do an audit job, fairly big new project for the company I work for. But when I went to print the docs the ink ran out in my printer so I drove in to town to get some fresh ink, and managed to pick up the wrong ones which I didn't realise until I got home and had opened the packet.

So now I really can't face another drive in to town forthe right ink and then having to come home print the docs and then go back in to town again to do the job. So I'll sort out the ink tomorrow on my way home from work, and do the job on Thursday before work (Thursday being the last possible day to get it done).

As with so many things, the answer is "it depends".

In my mother's day, the brightest (women who worked) went into office work, the second brightest into shops, and the third brightest went into factories.

But on the other hand, in France, they have the best educated casual workers (they have a thing for educating people to degree level in subjects like 12th century poetry in Classical Latin and then wondering why they can't find a job) and a woman there wrote a book on her "customers"

    Cheap evening in then... ;)

I'm blaming a mix of the bottle of rose, a large glass of white and then the one at home being a sparkling rose, and having had dinner at almost 10pm.

Was meant to run yesterday but didn't feel like it so have my dinner in the oven and will go to the pool for the late session this evening - still not got a decent front light on the bike so will drive.

Have also picked p the correct ink for my pirnter so I can sort out my paperwork and do the job on Thursday, then need to sort out the second site paperwork when I do the rota for work.

Still not sorted out getting back from Gatwick after my holiday (only 10 days til I fly...) so will have to research parking and probably drop the car off silly am on the day I get the train to Manchester so I can just drive myself home when we get back since the last train is 10 mins before the flight lands and there are no bus or coach services this way until 5am.

Yeah, I wouldn't blame it on being lightweight either... ;):p

That sounds complicated. Are you departing and arriving from different UK airports?

Yup, we leave from Manchester and return to Gatwick.

My Step Dad's planning, the theory was good until the flight turned out to be 30 mins after the last train back to my local station.

At the moment the plan is to book the car in to one of Gatwick's carparks drop it off Friday, train in to London to meet the one I've already booked north. Or declare a state of screw it all and stay on holiday.....

Yes, in theory good, but the devil is in the details...

Possibly looking to book a Travelodge may have been an easier solution...

    How's you?

I have to be at work on Thursday - at the moment we don't have the timings for the guests that day though and I can't risk it being a breakfast meeting (as this group sometimes do) and my not being able to work after the team have done the very busy weekend (which I already feel bad about as its the biggest regular group we have). If it's an afternoon group then I probably can but we won't know until Wednesday next week.
