Can I join please? Aiming for £175 in January which is £35 per week. I have a full freezer so I'm hoping it will be a little lower but my self control has gone out of the window the past 6 weeks so easing myself in!

  • spent just shy of £13 in Iceland on Christmas Eve as I wanted one of their party platter type boxes for after the Christingle service; the box I got was £5 and had over 100 pieces of which I cooked less than half so there's more for another day. Got profiteroles and ice for Christmas day at the request of bf's mum and of course I forgot to take either to her house but we were all too full for dessert anyway and she had enough ice as only one person used any. Aldo bought some mini desserts for Christmas Eve and again only used half a box of each so more left for other days :)I defrosted some chicken breasts a couple of days ago and we ended up not eating them (grr hate waste!) I'm going to check them and if they are ok bake them off this morning then shred them and put them in soup. I'm guessing they should be ok; they have been stored in the fridge and should have a couple days on the post defrosting...right?

Hi hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Catching up on the December thread and declaring an underspend of £352.57 over the year. Now I need to decide on my target for next year. I think I'll go with an ambitious £3300 which is for 5 adults. I am starting with a full freezer of meat which will get me off to a great start, just love the bargains on Christmas eve.

Thanks zippychick for the new thread. Can you put me down for £370 this month. I will be starting on the 31st of December and running til the 31st of Jan inclusive. This is £20 less than Decembers budget so should be achievable :)

  • hello! I am terrible for dipping in and out of these threads but would like to aim for £300 this month (sorry can't change to red on phone). My month starts from this Sunday until the last Saturday in Jan (am finding it easier to plan Sunday too Sunday rather than a whole month so food shopping always happens on same day etc). Going to be a bit of a challenge as stocking up freezer when baby arrives, due in February.
  • Hi, not tried this before, but going to give it a go. Reckon I spend £70 a week (that's 2 adults, 3 children + daughters bf) so going to do whole of Jan saving receipts and seeing how on target I am. Hopefully be able to do it as had a big shop in Iceland other day. Biggest challenge will be putting me and hubby on health diet (and hopefully lose some weight) without him realising lol, so any suggestions gratefully received.
Loving life to the full, just need purse full too :)
