Hi
Came well under budget in December, mostly due to 2 DS;s buying a load of the food as a gift. A jolly good gift as it happened!
So Hopefully £250 for Jan 20150 -
Having ended every month in 2014 under budget :A :money:its time to reduce my spending which is normally £200-£250 per month depending on if its a 4 or 5 week month. Therefore this year am going to attempt to reduce this by £20 per month making January's target £230 please.

I would like to join this challenge please.
I have to seriously watch where my money goes. After creating a massive spreadsheet I can afford about £40 per week for food, £30 sometimes. I don't have a food buffer either so plan on building one up so that if I am paid late or something happens I can survive for a while. It's me, 4 children and the dog. We may have an extra mouth to feed come February due to possibly taking on the care of my sisters baby but I will plan for that if and when it happens.
For January my budget is £200. This needs to include dog food, toiletries, loo rolls and washing powder as well as food. Thank you for your kind reply
I am feeding 2 adults and an almost 5 year old (also on hot school meals) and a 2.5 year old. My girls are fairly healthy eaters for little uns! My major downfall is running out at lunch time, as I work full time, and grabbing food for tea that I wouldn't need if I prepped in advance! I know this month will be an oddity as I am not back at work until the 5th and I have loads of stuff in that won't get eaten over the next few days :rotfl:

Sorry only just seen this, I try to get the meat out in the morning unless it's a slow cooker dish, I get the meat out the night before so I can prepare in the morning. I do a monthly menu plan and pretty much stick to it!Grocery Challenge 2024

Reckon I spend £70 a week (that's 2 adults, 3 children + daughters bf) so going to do whole of Jan saving receipts and seeing how on target I am. Hopefully be able to do it as had a big shop in Iceland other day. Biggest challenge will be putting me and hubby on health diet (and hopefully lose some weight) without him realising lol, so any suggestions gratefully received.
Gradually add extra veg to dishes such as bolagnese and stews, and smaller portions if you decrease over time hopefully he'll not notice.Grocery Challenge 2024

Hi all,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and that you are all well.
I've (finally) updated the budgets list to here
Welcome/welcome back to:
plymouthscubagirl, Wicked Lady, katkin, mashedavocado, islandhoppa, CherryPie, nearlytherenow, BrassicWoman, kersplatt, savingpennies, Eviekins, dobs, brownsauce, clare33, cyberthrifty, buddiebabe, GrowMyOwn, Penny-Pincher!! and bellevie
Our budget remains at £450 for the five of us. Have spent a fair bit already as we started on 22nd December, so this month includes all the Christmas extras. Will hopefully go to Aldi on Monday as DH is off. Looking to stock up the cupboards on all the essentials, as the last few months it's been wall to wall Tesco shops for us which works out more expensive.
Good luck everyone.

Ok, so I'm completely rubbish at this, but need to get things back under control.
I work full time, with a part time job as well and taxi service for DD ...
Which has meant I've got out of kilter ... and need to get back into things.
My initial budget (and please don't gasp or shudder) is £800
For DD, DH, myself, 2 cats, alcohol and all toiletries / cleaning products.
Tiredness has meant relying on takeouts, and my aim for this year is to have the occasional takeout, rather than the 4 a week and a rather unbalanced diet for DD (pingables).GC - March 2024 -0 -

Sounds like you're doing the right thing, by setting a realistic budget. At least you'll be able to keep in it and then can gradually reduce it month by month :TGrocery Challenge 2024
