Hi Snottycat, I'm not including food for my pet in this as I'd usually buy it separately and I've already worked out the most economical way to buy it.

Instead I'm focussing on my supermarket shop: food and drink, toiletries, cleaning products etc

I did wonder about including my Rabbit food/hay (& fish food for that matter) but figure as I usually buy it at the supermarket I would include it. Maybe I ought to think about buying in bulk and making better savings that way??

£240.00 for me for January please. Wondering just now if I should carry on with online shopping as it stops all impulse buys. Any thoughts?

    Hi

I have found I spend lots less by having home delivery. I can control my impulse shopping and also can add things during the week to my delivery.

Good luck, 2015 will be tough for me.

There aren't any set rules Debs, as it is a personal challenge. I choose to include pet food, but I only have a small dog and 3 chickens these days, so not a great deal of extra expense. Others prefer to budget separately for pets. Ultimately it is down to individuals, as our circumstances are all different :)
  • Hi guys ..
Can I come back to the challenge ... Would you put me down for £250 please

    Hi all,

Am reading to gleen as many tips as possible.

I havn't posted on the GC thread for ages, and its showing in my bank balance :(

I HAVE to get myself sorted out as I have recently gone part time at work to help out elderly MIL, which was planned for, but is a fair bit tighter than I reckoned on.

We,re getting a new kitchen in the new year, end Jan start of Feb, so this means that I need to do a proper food audit, so we can eat down the stock before it all gets ripped out.

One thing that is causing me issues is that we are pre empty nesters - ie we have 3 older kids, one of which has left home, but eats for England when visiting, second is rarely home, but still officially lives here and needs feeding at odd times due to shift work, and my baby one (16 nearly 17) who is in 6th form, but works several evenings a week and needs food before work and often when he returns.

Anyone been in this situation? I either massivly overshop, or undershop and get moaned at because there is 'no food'. I often leave meals for them, but they sometimes don,t get eaten, because they,ve grabbed a burger or whatever on the way home because they are too hungry to wait. Its driving me bonkers.........

Sorry to ramble on and my January amount is £300
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130

  • Hiya I'd like to join for January, what I'm hoping to do is to use money that I haven't spent over Xmas, I have loads of food in as my guests went and did a shop when they arrived so I still have a freezer full, they go back January 2nd, so I will be back when I know what money I can find down the back of chairs etc!!!!!
