Hi everyone. Didn't post at all in December. It went by in a whirl. Didn't add up exactly what I spent but pleased to say I didn't go overboard. About £100 over what I normally spend (£250.00) but I was given £80.00 towards christmas food by family as everyone spent both christmas and boxing day at our house.
My budget has had to be reduced to £150.00 as we've had a few unexpected emergency bills to pay but I'm sure I can still pull it in. Got 2 huge Turkey pies In the freezer made with the left overs. 3 massive porations of roast beef and a huge portion of roast pork. Think I've got Sunday dinners sorted for the rest of the month.
I did stock up on toiletries and cleaning stuff for January in the last few months as we always struggle a bit in this month. Hopefully will only needs fresh bits and pack up stuff. I officially started yesterday and that turned out to be a nsd. So still sitting on £150.00. Good luck to everyone xxMarch 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -

Hello
Can I come back in with a budget of £100 for the whole of January please.
I bought loo rolls and washing liquid in December so I don't think I have any major purchases for January.
My freezer is pretty full and I'm back on track with Slimming World so I shan't be buying treats now.
Thank you to those who run this thread - my monthly spending has reduced from well over £250 (just for me) and I was throwing away precious food. No more.0 -

Horrified with post hols weigh in so set off to Aldi (walking distance so didn't have to get the car out) for apples, courgettes, aubergine, peppers, potatoes, cottage cheese, fat free yogurt, nectarines, bananas, and quorn mince. I am trying to be vegan but fall at rubber soy mince and beany tasting yogurt and cheese substitutes
Further research will need to wait until I am a little more flush!
Managed to avoid all the half price xmas pudding and choc reindeers!
£10:16, which when combined with all the goodies in the cupboards should see me through til Saturday. I have champers in for new year and a tenner set aide for a couple of pints in town. Think it'll be a healthy walk home too as I can't run to NYE taxi fares!
Right..back to the post break laundry mountain!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -

. Holland * barrett do a nice vegan range and at my local one they mark down on the last sat of the month so you can pick up some really good bargains otherwise I find it way too expensive. I tend to stick to beans and lentils and look online for recipes I can adapt to suit me. Good luck with the veganism :T

Another quick update, NSD yesterday that's 3 I think and I'm popping out today for a top up shop. In laws round tonight for sandwiches and Mother and her Husband around for a light lunch on Saturday then it's just us.
Still finishing off the chicken, I love Christmas leftoversI will probably cook my "Christmas" gammon tomorrow to last us the rest of the week with potato and/or pasta salads and green salad. I think I might save a bit to make some pie with too.
Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

Since our big Christmas shop on 17th December we have only had to nip out for a few bits on 2 occasions, shop 1 cost about £20, shop 2 less than £10. I don't think we need anything until new years day which would make it just a £30 spend in a full 2 weeks :T
I can foresee a large shop needing doing in January. I hope Aldi continue with the £5 voucher on the last Thursday of the month as I could pick up 2 or 3 and do a big stock-up shop...
Can anyone recommend a good sports type bottle for my boys to take juice in to school (high school and boys are 12 & 14) At the moment I have been buying them the flavoured water from Aldi and although it is cheap it is still £4 a week just on water! It would be effectively free if I just send them with regular diluted juice (as I buy it anyway); a saving of £16pm.Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Been to Aldi and spent £42, the butchers and spent £45 and then Morrisons and Morrisons and spent £13.
So spent £100. I did fill the freezer with the butchers spends though. I got 2 huge packs of bacon mishapes, 2 packs of 2 large bacon chops, 2 packs of 2 large gammon steaks, 1 gammon shank, a pack of beef skirt and 4 large chicken breasts.
Not sure what to make with the beef skirt- I was thinking of a stew with dumplings. Is skirt a good cut to use for stew? I'll put it in my slow cooker.
Also not sure what to do with the gammon shank, any ideas?
redmel- have you looked at Sports Direct to see about the sports bottles? I would recommend the aluminium ones, hard and stand up to the bashing about they get while in school bags.0
