This is my first time doing a NSD and grocery challenge. I am desperately trying to save a deposit to buy my first home so every penny counts. For Jan I hope to spend under £180 on groceries and have 12 NSD. There are 2 of us and we are good at cooking/freezing but not so good at keeping to a shopping list!Grocery Challenge Jan 2015 £188.52/£180

Just been to Tesco, as we were out of a few bits. Ended up spending £25.23 as they were reducing meat to at least 75% off. Among other things got 9 packs of gammon / pork with sauces for £3 in total. Also got some greens for the bunnies for 5p a pack. Milk goes out of date on the 2nd, might freeze a bottle though to keep us out of the shops. Going to aim not to buy anything for a week, need to stay out of the shops!!![STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]

Evening all,
Good savings there, merzal.
I would like to join January's Grocery Challenge and I have £50 for the month. This is not a lot, but I do have freezers and pantry that I wish to empty as we are hopefully moving at the end of January.
Good Luck all.

Thanks Peony. I never pay full price for meat / bread and very rarely for fruit / veg. Only problem is I get a bit carried away so I now have a big chest freezer stuffed to the brim, need to get some self control! Going to try just to buy milk, fruit and veggies for the bunnies. Trying to cut down on junk foods, have plenty left from Christmas so won't be buying any![STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]

Merzal- do you go in the evenings to get the bargains? What time do you go?
I am trying to spend much much less this month, and to get YS (Yellow Sticker/reduced) foods, but don't know what time I should go.0 -
If you live close to an Icel&nd I always find first thing in morning is best, as they reduce all their fresh meat stock by 50% that has to be sold that day, so I grab whatever they have and take home and freeze itLoving life to the full, just need purse full too

. Holland * barrett do a nice vegan range and at my local one they mark down on the last sat of the month so you can pick up some really good bargains otherwise I find it way too expensive. I tend to stick to beans and lentils and look online for recipes I can adapt to suit me. Good luck with the veganism :T
