Hi there, my first spend of the year - £71 on a Tesco delivery with only one substitution of lambs liver instead of pigs. I don't mind as I can't really taste the difference once it's cooked in an onion gravy and served up with mash and cabbage. My hubby has just come in from the shed where we keep our chest freezer and wagged his finger at me as the freezer is full up to the brim. I've been trying to empty it since way before Christmas but not succeeding obviously

I usually opt for printing the option for 2 supermarkets to get the balance of some things the same price or on offer at my favourite, and the offer things at the other. If it is all heavy I then do it online and try for a free delivery slot.
I have also adopted the pattern of only buying store-cupboard things when they are on offer (and then enough for a few months to cover until next time), so my weekly shop is purely the fresh items to fulfil my meal-plan and the occasional store-cupboard thing I have run out of.
I did this by moving to an annual budget and dividing by 13 - so 12 months plus a store-cupboard fund. I used to plan for the next Suffolk siege but I have relaxed in the three years I have been doing this challenge. This way I still buy my favourite products, where they matter to me (washing gloop, for example)
I hope this helps

Thank you so much for taking the time to type this and pass on your tips they are really helpful. Going to sit down and have a look at it all this afternoon.
Hoping for NSD today grocery wise. Spent an unplanned 25 in t yesterday mainly treats for a rainy day in. This used to be a huge weakness so glad it seems to be a bit of a one off. A big t too, usually get ripped off at express.
Got gammon in SC for dinner already, v unlike me!! Hoping to get at least two meals out of it.
Hope everyone has a great day and thanks againDebt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

£220 for the month
I've spent £28 yesterday, but my freezer and cupboards are full and I have a nearly full sack of potatoes. Hoping to stretch it out and any leftover pennies will be OP'd to the mortgageMFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
Well, did a little reccy of the protein sources in our freezer last night. Suffice to say we're good for a while. Tried to look up some recipes in a few cookbooks but it made me feel nauseous (my pregnancy food aversions were being triggered with the pictures) so will stick to recipes on here with no pictures.
Although, we need a few of the more "expensive" items this week, coffee and the like. I'm hoping to get to B&M Bargains on my lunch on Monday before I spend the normal prices at Mr S. I also need to get to the Asian supermarket but its the opposite side of town so that might be another day.
I'm being inspired by the totals people are posting here. It make my figure seem massive. HOwever, that's the point of this challenge to me; to see what I'm spending all that money on and where I can change it for the better. So "thank you" lovely people. :THow long til pay day?
