Day of reckoning as it is the 31 January, and the end of my challenge. I have gone over, but only by £2.03, so I am not too worried by that. It was a long month, as my challenge started on 27 December
I found that consciously aiming for NSDs helped, and I managed 13 in January
On to February now.... see everyone there0 -
Hiya everyone
Well done to those coming in under budget :T
I am declaring at £178.04 which is £21.96 under my budget.
So that £21.96 will be added to my bulk-buy fund bring that up to £84.09 going forward.
I also managed 20 NSDs and was only aiming for 15 so well chuffed :j
'See' you all in February and hope you have a super Sunday

Last spend of January today was £8 in w8rose for bits and pieces of YS bread, then I found a Kabocha squash which is lovely and not easy to find so could not leave such opportunity.
Declaring £316 which is £44 under budget.
I am planning for a NSD tomorrow for my first day of February, see you over at the new thread! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Just £5 over my £100 target so I hope to be lower in February still pleased though.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs
Since first using Martins I have saved thousands0 -
Declaring under budget at £437.26. What a long month. Will need to restock my freezers next month. See you on the February thread.
Thanks for the inspiration everyone. X0 -
Came in at an £11.90 overspend, but considering my initial target was an extraordinarily low £50 target, I'm not complaining.
I'm going to up my target to £60 for February though, which I think is probably more realistic.
I've found that getting that £50 out in cash at the start of the month, and keeping it in a separate purse, made it much easier to keep tabs on what was being spend. I will be continuing this.Because it's fun to have money!

I am declaring a big fat give up
BUT will dust myself off and start afresh in February :j
Grocery Challenge 2017: Jan £85/£300
Make £10 a day challenge - Jan £32.27/£310
Pay off debt by Christmas 2017 #43 £32.27/£5000
In too much debt to put the number on paper0 -
Just finished updating my spreadsheet, so can now report in final figures for January (hope everyone's ready for a headache reading my figures
)
Budget at start of month = £253.10
Reduced by £24, as I didn't provide a number of main meals I'd allowed for
Revised budget = £229.10
I then spent £69.73 in shops
DS1 and OH spent £14.48 in shops
So total shop spend of £84.21 - which is fantastic given my budget, and last year this is what I'd have declared :T
But this year I'm trying to figure out how much I need in my budget moving forward (assuming no stockpiles or access to offers/whoopsies), so my figures actually show
Value of food from shops = £119.58
Value of food from home stocks = £110.22
Total value of food = £229.80
Each time I pay a food bill I put the loose change (to next 10p) to one side, so loose change = £1.60
Total spent = £231.40, which is what I'm actually declaring.
This is £21.70 below my original budget
But £2.30 above my revised/reduced budget
I'm happy enough with this. I'm also fairly happy with the split between 'new' foods and 'stock' foods, although I have that much in I really need to not be as easily tempted to add any more to my stockpile while I'm trying to reduce the volume!
What I haven't included is a Chinese Take-Away OH treated us to last night (£12.50 for 2 of us - I hate seeing money go like that!). We didn't have a take-away at all last year, so I didn't feel as guilty as I normally would accepting his offer - especially given I'm woolly headed and lethargic at the moment (thanks to a grotty cold), and wasn't in the best of moods after my combi oven (not even 2 years old) blew up yesterday morning meaning I lost one of my main cooking appliancesCheryl0 -
I am finally declaring £ 4 over my budget of £ 200 . I am chuffed as this included a lot of DIY stuff and the freezers and store cupboards are filled to the top. I really should not need much in the next 2 weeks, lol. Fresh start in February!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0
