Not been posting this last week as haven't been well. Finally went shopping on Friday with DH - big mistake! We went in 4 shops and in 3 of those DH put in stuff which wasn't on my list! I hate going shopping with DH as he always does this - I think if I can't go by myself in future we'll just go to one shop, hopefully that way he won't pick up so much extra stuff!

Shopping came to £48.47, which although under budget is far more than I normally spend on one shop. At the moment it's looking like I won't need to do a top up shop tomorrow but I haven't actually checked I've got everything needed for this week's meals.

Total spend for the month so far is £135.09/£250 and currently have 12 NSDs so far.

  • That makes sense, did you see the huge blocks on cheese, think 800g for £3.85?

Ohh no I didn't see them. Are they in Aldi?

Hoping for another NSD today, depends if I have any icing sugar in the cupboards to decorate some cakes with.

  • Spent £22.40 yesterday - not on groceries but for an impromptu meet-up with friends for a meal. DH has paid for our last two meals out so this one came out of the GC budget. Lovely meal, with the bonus of 10% "bus pass" discount on the food :) but not off the beer! Doing well with the GC NSDs this month, but will need a top-up shop soon as we're down to 3 day's worth of fresh fruit now. Still well within budget so far, even with paying for the meal yesterday.

  • A little spend today of £1 in W*lkos on 2 packs of face wipes and £3.20 in Sainos on a bottle of squash, cooked ham and a seeded loaf. However I had a £2.50 voucher so my actual spend was 70p. I have updated my signature accordingly. Hoping not to have to spend now until at least Thursday. Have a lovely day all.

    Saving for Xmas 2017 - £0/£2000.

Sorry havent read all of thread but running in to update my budget pre school run. I spent £33 at the weekend. Which puts me right up to my limit bar a few pounds.
I should not have tried to slash another £20 off my food bill on what is a 6 week pay period. Silly Bob. However I have enough food in till friday I'd say, and pay day is 6 days after that. So if I get stuck I have given myself permission to borrow my travel budget of £7.50 per week that I havent been spending as Im now walking or cycling all journies. So I wont starve.
Back later to read everyone elses's updates.

When I pop into the shops, I think of this thread and it helps me not to buy I don't need, so I am getting better at not buying unnecessary things.

I so agree. This forum is a great source of support. Knowing I've promised on here to have a NSD makes me stick to it way more than if I just said it to myself.

  • Spent £13.34 in T*sco today and £12.13 on some salmon in C**tco, most of which will go in the freezer.

Defrosted some chicken for fajitas tonight and might make fish pie for tomorrow.

    Hello.

i have lost track of the amount of NSD's I have had! I have been to uni today so another NSD. It must be about 12-13 for the month so far.

ALDI VOUCHERS IN PAPER (M*rror) ON THURSDAY.. £5 off £40.

I have rejigged my shopping because of this and have written down everything I will need to last until the end of the month which will be a spend of £80, so I can use two vouchers on Thursday.

I will also buy 2 more papers and shop next Tuesday instead of Wednesday. By doing this I will have saved £20 over the two weeks :D This second shop will be meal ingredients for February's meal plan. I won't count it in this months budget as I will 'borrow' the £70 from savings and put it back in February.

I'm hoping that makes sense as I am feeling rather confused myself!
