We have a chronic mould problem in our spare room unfortunately a dehumidifier didn't help we think something is wrong with the brickwork but as its not our property we can't do s lot, we found keeping the window slightly open all the time has helped.

Pablosammy did i imagine that you had the same birthday as me? If not, happy birthday!!

Don't get me started on damp and mould. One of the reasons why we are desperate to move in to our own home now.

2 years we've put up with damp seeping through the brickwork. That then creates perfect conditions for the mould to grow. We've had to move bedrooms because it was right by our heads when we slept at night. Grim !!

we didn't realise there was damp and mould, til it was coming through the wardroe and onto the clothes :eek: so now there's no furniture in there!

we are saving for a deposit but need to pay down the debt too. OH has about £240 left to pay and aside from the car, I've got £150. Not too shabby... only £10k left to save

I have a facebook photo album dedicated to the mould and damp in this flat, all with dates on them so we have a record for the landlord/leaseholders (or is it freeholders)

    Hi Mat,
Depending on how long you've been repaying the debt surely that's not a surprise or bad thing but a sensible thing to do. I agree re mortgage brokers, and found John Ch@rcol v helpful. I'd start with Martin's first time buyers guide on here first, bet it's ace! So, if you are renting I bet Martin would say step 1 is a budget? :)
Not sure if it's a safe and friendly space but there's a whole house buying board on here too. Good luck!

Luckily my old best mate is a mortgage advisor so he is seeing me today and we're going through our options.

    108 from 2014 here!

I actually hit my target for 2014 but got out of the way of updating. Also got into a habit of using the cc quite a lot, but clearing it every month.

I want to get out of that habit this year and use it way less. We have some big house projects we'd like to achieve this year so ideally I'd like to limit cc use to things related to that. I also would like to try and clear the car payments this year too.

So I'm going for a target of £9139.48 in 2015.

Welcome back! I've given you your old number back. I recently got to the point where I stopped routinely using my credit card. It felt strange initially spending money on my debit card, knowing that cash disappeared straight away - I guess it's changed the way I think about my spending, but it feels incredibly liberating. Good luck :T

I sound like I'm in a rehab clinic :rotfl:
Can i sign up please? Im only 23 but would like to clear 3k by august 2015. I would also like to start saving too

Of course you can! I was heavily in debt at 23 and have only faced up to it now I'm in my 30s, so well done for doing something about it early on. You're number 81.

Can you make an extra £3.48 payment to satisfy my OCD? :rotfl:

Unexpected money is the most dangerous type! It's so easy to spend it thinking that it's 'free', well done for resisting.
