Yeah, I include my student loan... most people don't, but it's in the back of my mind. As we're applying for this mortgage, I won't be able to pay it off by Christmas unfortunately. However, I hope it'll be gone by the middle of next year, so I'll be on the 2016 thread.

As for paying yours off three days after Christmas, that definitely still counts! Especially as you'll be debt free on my birthday, and I'll be feeling kind... ;)
  • £400 paid today, of which £300 cleared the Barclays overdraft and £100 went to the Tesco CC.

So paid £400 out of my £3750 year-end target, yay!

I'm due to make one more CC payment of about £200 at the beginning of December - to the MBNA card - and a big, fat one (my annual bonus, sob) on the 24th of December, this last one should clear the MBNA debt completely.

  • Aphidgirl - 3 days after christmas definitely counts! You'll still be on your Christmas holidays won't you? I mean technically because the 26th is a saturday, Monday the 28th will be Boxing Day, and that's just an extension of Christmas Day really... and I just found my excuse for over-indulging on chocolates for an extra couple of days :rotfl:
  • Thanks Team :D

It will be slightly strange becoming debt-free as I've been so focused on debt-busting for the last 2 years - what will I do with myself next year?

Join a saving thread I guess and put all that money into savings instead of giving it away! :j

  • Payday! :j

I've just paid off my one remaining credit card in full, so now owe nothing on credit cards at all! :) It's an aqua card with a £250 limit and some ridiculous interest rate like 30%. What do you think, keep it when I'm debt free for occasional purchases and pay off in full each month or just cut it up? My credit rating is very poor but I'm not too worried about that really.

    So now on:

    #9 £4898/£5298 (92%)

Another payment coming out tomorrow so will update again then. Happy debt-busting!

I wish I had your problem :) Great achievement, I'm hopeful I can get there too!

Paid another £200 to my MBNA Card, I'm at £600/£3750, it feels good considering I started v late in the year. The only big challenge coming up is the 2nd of December - presents shopping - I only need to buy for my mum, dad, and my dad's wife, the rest are all done.

Now let's see what the December bonus looks like... the bonus won't stay for long in my bank account BUT the MBNA card will be paid off (and cancelled, no reason for me to keep this one) and my Christmas target will be met!

Hi all. It's been a while since I updated. I will know my total in a few days when all my payments have gone out. I will declare my final figures for the year then.
Looking forward to next year's thread so I can continue to tackle my debt. Well done to everyone who has stuck with it this far, and especially to those who have reached their target.
Although I won't be debt free by xmas 2015, this thread has helped me keep trying.

Evening lovelies! Popping in to update and catch up on all the news :)

Aphidgirl - so jealous of you being debt-free this year - well done you :T Hoping we are still on track for spring 2017...

Knightley - you're making a great start and I'll be joining you on the thread next year too. Lex - I'd love to know how to work out "actual" payments like you've done on this thread. Can you tell me how it's done please? I just make a payment that's over the minimum, but don't know how to work out what's interest or how it affects next month's interest. Do you use an accounting programme?

Anyhow...#85 £36,367.22/£46,868.02 = 79% please Pablosammy - any more news on the house front?

Still cheering everyone on - especially in the final furlong... xxx
