Don't know. Every half decent rental is hotly contested here, nothing stays on for more than a few days. We have a bunny, and only mentioned staying for a year... I imagine someone without a pet and who said they wanted to stay for longer got accepted over us.

I hate houses - the UK property market is broken beyond belief. I'm going to live in a tent somewhere... :rotfl:

nightmare! we had difficulty because we have 3 rabbits however most were happy to accept a security deposit o cover any potential damage. :)

i'e seen a doer-upper on the market for £115k. it's quite ovrpriced when you compare it to past sold prices. e.g. a nicer one in better condition sold for £116k in January. I wonder if they would take a cheeky offer :rotfl: it needs a new boiler, radiators, loft insulation, new kitchen, bathroom needs to be moved upstairs, full decoration throughout.........could be extremely expensive  think we will keep looking!
  • Another payment for #180. Had my expenses paid from work so its going straight off the credit card. payment of £273.50 bringing my payment total to £1205.50

    Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I am very pleased to be back and able to report that I have reached my target of paying £5105.43 off my debt!

ETA: I'm not sure why or when my original target figure changed - I think I added up my debts incorrectly early on - but they are definitely paid in full!

A huge well done to you :T

Well done everyone £2million is massive.

Sorry to hear about your rental falling through Pablo - the market is ridiculous and renters are definitely getting the brunt of it all. Hope there is something better out there for you. Thanks for keeping up with this thread as well can't be easy while you're trying to sort out other things.:A

Congratulations all those who are now debt free. I can't wait.

Most bills for the month have already come in for me. Only one credit card due at the end of the month so update for me is:

    Good luck for August everyone.:)

  • OK, I know that I don't post on here too often, but when I do I read through, to see how other people are doing. I am proud to be part of a community that is making great progress with getting debt free...

Now for my good news, after a lot of time focussing on the problems that I have, and getting my head out of the sand, I can now happily say that following a really, really dark period of my life, I have finally performed another great escape.

I am now 100% known debt free, as I made the last payment today.

That's £5,467.85 paid off in 18 months... and I've now got myself a savings account with some money saved in it too :)

Life is awesome and thank you all for the support that you give each other. You are all absolutely awesome too :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Having a little grrrr moment at MBNA. As I made a manual payment on 30/07, and my direct debit was due to come out on 09/08, they are now not taking my DD this month. I'm going to pay the minimum payment manually on the date was due (9th) anyway as I already have the amount factored into my budget, and I have to find out what affects the DD in terms of payment dates.

Update to the direct debit situation - MBNA DID take my DD today, despite my online account updating to show "no payment due" after my last manual payment. Lucky I didn't pay it twice then.

So my totals change again - number 180 with a regular min payment DD of £42.93. Total paid - £1248.43
