We've just applied for a new rental property to tide us over until we have a deposit for a house. Unfortunately, that's going to be approximately £1,100 in fees and deposit that I would otherwise have put towards my loan. Not to mention the removal costs/van hire...

On the bright side, I'm going to be able to pay with cash rather than with my credit card (with the fees that entails), which would have been a pipe dream not so long ago. With the exception of the fees and removal costs, most of it should be received back when we buy somewhere, which should help us furnish it when we need to.

Loads of other stuff at the moment too. Hotel for my cousin's wedding, scuba club annual membership, other bits and bobs. Feeling under siege right now  I do have a few hours of overtime coming up which will help, but it feels a bit relentless.

I feel your pain Pablo! When we moved I think it was about £1500 all in. I used my overdraft as it was very much one week between viewing and moving in!

Don't know. Every half decent rental is hotly contested here, nothing stays on for more than a few days. We have a bunny, and only mentioned staying for a year... I imagine someone without a pet and who said they wanted to stay for longer got accepted over us.

I hate houses - the UK property market is broken beyond belief. I'm going to live in a tent somewhere... :rotfl:
