  • #50 with my usual Friday check in.

I had hoped to be able to make a larger payment but we had friends staying all week that expected 3 square meals a day and never once thought to contribute when we went to the supermarket! Maybe I should have outright asked them for money but I find it really difficult to ask and when we stay with people we trip over ourselves to pay for everything so they're not out of pocket.

Never mind, still managing to make a little dent all the same:

Welcome, #151! :) Sounds like you've got a plan, now the job is to stick to it. Things may seem far away sometimes, but time has a habit of melting away so don't let that put you off.

I'm intrugued by the 'buy a house in full with cash' target! Do you already own, or are you looking to skip the mortgage altogether?

I still live with my parents. its too expensive to rent currently and I only earn 10k a year. as soon as my debts are paid down ive worked it out if I can increase my income by about 3 k a year I will have enough for a 50k house in my area after heavy saving in about 6 years

  • I've been doing this too! Every time I spend any money I've rounded down the available money in my current account and sent the extra to my CC - it's amazing how much of a difference it makes without really thinking about finding extra money from anywhere :)

I do this too- well kinda, i have "save the change" set up on my TSB current account, it automatically rounds up to the nearest £ when ever i spend on my debit card - at the end of each day it goes into my savings account automatically. I dont miss the money from my current account and at the end of the month its a nice sum to add towards debts x.
