I’d like to join this board please. I’m currently 12 weeks + 2.
I’ve been in and out of hospital a lot with hyperemersis so not a fantastic pregnancy at the moment. However little one is very healthy which is all that matters.0 -
Hi all, I know I graduated a while ago but after seeing HappyLassie's post I wanted to say there's hope! I suffered with hyperemesis too (felt the effects from 5 weeks to 20 weeks!). After a few hospital trips and a lot of discussions with my midwife and GP I was given ondansetron which was a bloody miracle! It started to ease around week 20 and by week 23(ish) I was off the meds and now I'm happily at 33 with no sickness and much less nausea (hopefully your's won't last as long. Obviously everyone is different but it will come to an end and is all for the best reason! Just make sure you're taking care of yourself and if you feel like you need help make sure you get it.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancies!Little One born 19/12/18

Thank you Nellie! I’m currently on ondansetron and cyclizine 3 times a day and when they work it’s fantastic. It just seems to be every 4th day my body decides the only thing it needs is drips! My midwife has told me to aim for 16 weeks so I’m hoping it will all sort itself out by then.
I’m pleased to hear yours did come to an end!0 -
I’m not sure if there is anyone on this board as it’s very quiet but I’ll still type here ☺️
I’m now 13 weeks + 1 day and no longer taking the sickness tablets as I seem to just have the one dose of sickness on a morning and then nothing else which I can deal with.
I have my first consultant appointment on the 21st, is anyone else consultant lead on here and can tell me what usually happens at your first appointment?0 -

I'm on the other board but thought I'd answer you.
It very much depends on why you are consultant led but I was last time for heart and thyroid and this time for thyroid and elective c section.
The thyroid appointments are very simple - urine (take a sample if you don't like doing them whilst there) and blood pressure done by the midwife, then see the endocrine consultant (usually with a couple of students). They (either consultant or registrar, I only saw registrars last time) review my blood test results, adjust or not my dose and tell me when to make the next appointment. I'm in and out in less than 5 minutes. Last time I was discharged back to midwife led care at 32 weeks, will be the same again this time (as in I'll be discharged from endocrine around that time. As I'm having a c section I'll still be consultant led).
The heart one was a bit more complex - saw consultant, gave history of my heart issue, he referred me for a cardiac scan, I then went back once I had the results and we discussed what they meant (which was nothing thankfully) and I was discharged.
With regards to the c section, I've seen two registrars. One lovey and very understanding and one horrid and dismissive. Got a third in a few weeks - with the actual consultant when hopefully it'll actually be all signed off, but if not there'll be a 4th meeting the week or two after. Again, the blood pressure and urine are done by the midwives and then the consultant/ registrar talks through the issue and makes a plan. They ask about history, current symptoms/ issue and general pregnancy questions. You'll likely get asked to make another appointment, or they will tell you they'll make one.
All very boring really!0 -
I’ve got a consultant app for the 23rd (day before my birthday but there every 2 weeks on a Friday so couldn’t change it) for my thyroid and possibly my weight. I see the midwife the week before. Did the midwife do the blood tests so results are ready as I haven’t had a blood test since July for it (I don’t think midwife did it for them at 8 weeks) as it’s quite a gap and I’m feeling pretty drained but don’t know if it’s pregnancy or thyroid or both:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Hi All
I am still around, although this thread has been quiet recently.
I am now 21+2, and had our 20 week scan on Halloween. It was so lovely to see the baby again and it melted my heart when it yawned!
I hope everyone is doing ok, I am trying to keep busy so have started christmas shopping. xxYou have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes.
