Room for a little one??
I'm 28, my DH is 30 and we've been married for 2.5 years and we are expecting our second baby. Our history in very brief form: I was on this thread at the beginning of last year when I was expecting our first baby, but sadly we miscarried at 20 weeks in April (and suffered numerous complications afterwards). So needless to say, we are feeling very apprehensive about this pregnancy but are trying to take each day as it comes. Still got occasional bout of queasiness, but it does seem to be easing somewhat, thank goodness. Still no appetite though!
We had our "12 week" scan today, and all is well - we have a beautiful fidgety baby. We are measured at 13 weeks today so our baby is due 29th July.

Welcome Mrs I {miss imaginative} - so sorry to hear of your loss and I'm sending you lots of positive vibes for this baby
Since I've been pregnant I'm not sure whether people have felt compelled to tell me or what is going on but I am told of so and so who sadly lost their baby girl at 8months, someone at work sadly miscarried at 20weeks. Obviously it makes me feel incredibly lucky that things have so far gone well, but I can't help worrying thinking that it may happen to us. Congrats Krusty! Starting to even out team pink on the list
Welcome Mrs_I - I can't imagine how anxious you must be feeling, but glad everything is going well so far.
Birthing plans wise I'm quite lucky in that my local hospital has a widwife lead unit across the corridor from the standard maternity unit. So all being well I can give birth in a midwife lead room on gas & air (if there's any rooms available!), but can just be wheeled across to the mat ward if I want an epidural or need a consultant etc. I am, of course, under no illusions that everything will go exactly to plan - I'm aiming to be flexible so I'm not overly disappointed!DS - 08/15

Thank youI'm very excited, DD and DH were hoping for a boy but we have been given a beautiful healthy girl so noone is feeling hard done by
I'm sure everything will go as you wish Claire, but always good to have an open mind just in case!
When I was having DD I was very naive. I thought that I would manage with no pain relief at all, that I would have a short birth and we'd be home tucked up in bed 2 hours later! In actual fact my labour was from Friday 9pm until Monday 6:20pm, DD was B2B and after labouring for a short while in a mw led unit I was blue lighted to the hospital 30miles away where I was placed on a drip, drugged up to my eyeballs and stayed in overnight after DD arrived as I felt so rough!
Needless to say this time I am trying all things possible to help position baby into a good position. I am doing my hypnobirthing reading and listening to the tracks, I am practicing pregnancy yoga and meditation. I am hoping for a limited pain relief birth at the mw led unit, but like you I am maintaining an open mind!PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

I'm guessing there is a reason they are resisting? I would stick to your guns though if that is what you want . My area seem to really push for a VBAC unless there is a real big reason why you can't. Just booked onto a vbac class in a couple of weeks time so hopefully that will help with any questions i have.
Hi Miss I - so lovely to see you here. So glad all is going well for you this time. I can totally emphasize with the anxiousness. I am starting to feel a lot better about things now the further i get from the point of mc last time.
Claire - my hospital was the same, midwife led bit was lovely. Unfortunately i ended up having to go have an epidural and then c section but it good to know you are not far away from things.0 -
Thank you for your lovely welcomes, Krusty, Claire and wendz!
Thank you you for the positive vibes, Krusty, taking every little bit of positivity I can at the moment! If it's any consolation, I had exactly that when I was last pregnant and suddenly heard of lots of tales of miscarriages, etc. I think once people know you're pregnant you're "in the club" asitwere and so those topics aren't quite as off limits as they used to be (and it happened even more so after I'd miscarried, once again the "in the club" thing). It's not remotely silly for thinking it might happen to you after you hear all these things, because it makes it feel so much closer to home, doesn't it? I felt similar - partly because of the things you hear, but also because my Mum had two miscarriages before she had my sister and myself. But you've made it to 20 weeks, that is a huge milestone! Try and reassure yourself now that the odds of anything happening are very very slim, although I know myself it is very very hard not to dwell on these fears.

Thank you, wendz, it is rather lovely to be here! I'm glad people here can empathise with the anxiousness, as it's so hard because sometimes it's completely irrational fear (but as my husband says it's hardly irrational given what we've been through). But I am getting better about it the further along I am, passing certain milestones from last time (where I had numerous bleeds throughout the pregnancy) and as we pass each one I am slowly getting more confident, but I don't think the anxiety will ever completely clear properly given we had our miscarriage so late on. We're currently on countdown to 23/24 weeks - 10ish weeks to go!
We have our appointment with my consultant on Monday, the first for this pregnancy, so I'm quite looking forward to hearing what she has to say and getting our previously discussed plans put into place.
Hope everyone else is feeling okay today!

I don't think the anxiety ever goes unfortunately. It does fade a bit though which helps.
Hope the consultant appointment goes well.0 -
Mrs-I whats the reason for consultant?
I expect to me consultant led too. But no idea what to expect or when!0 -
I am seeing a consultant due to previous c section, got an appointment in Feb at 23 weeks but not sure if I will have another after that. I am guessing they will discuss VBAC etc.0

Mrs-I whats the reason for consultant
Ha, what isn't the reason I'm consultant led, Rebekah?!Allow me to elaborate, you'll soon understand the sarcasm...
I was consultant led in my last pregnancy due to my high BMI, but also because of history of heart problems in my husband's family and then due to all the bleeding I had whilst pregnant. These reasons still apply during this pregnancy, but are very much on the back burner.
This time I am automatically consultant led because I miscarried at 20 weeks with my previous pregnancy and because I had issues with the placenta being retained (leading to sepsis). I have also recently found out from my booking in bloods that I now have antibodies in my blood to two minor blood types, which they need to keep retesting and keeping an eye on (these have developed either as a result of my previous pregnancy or from blood transfusions I had with the surgeries post-miscarriage). As from what I understand with my little bit of knowledge, it's kind of similar to Rhesus Negative but they don't have the Anti-D injections for it. If the antibody levels increase throughout the pregnancy it will mean probable early delivery as it can be harmful to baby, but I will be told more on Monday. This is on top of being Rhesus Negative. What can I say... I'm a "special" case.
What makes you think you'll be consultant led, Rebekah? They mentioned it to me as the probability at my booking in appointment and confirmed it after the 12 week scan (with first pregnancy). I would assume that they would have said something to you now if you were to be consultant led?
