I've achieved far more today than I expected to although I have also had another nap. I have got two loads of washing done and on airers (yesterdays stuff put away), hoovered/swept/mopped through house, sorted recycling and put rubbish out for collection tomorrow and walked the dogs.

Just having a cuppa, its raining here now so I won't attempt to take the dogs out again. Need to do some wrapping but maybe that can wait till after I have another nap.

Hi everyone! Bit grim up here today, and not too much excitement. Got a few bits from Mr M for MIL to feed kiddies while I'm away. Then a brief walk in park. Both littlies were tired. DS still coughing. So we came home. Made turkey casserole with extra sage which was lovely. Kitchen sorted, packing started. WM on. DW needs emptying. DS helped me sort spare room for granny so we are all ready.

Won't be flying much this week as it's full on other than Thursday. I'll catch up at the weekend.

    Brief update.

Have tidied really well downstairs - (into another room ready for sorting finally before Xmas). Hoovered and dusted where necessary, ironed all outstanding bedding - 4th washer load is on and t/dryer on too, one load drying on airer and one more to go - but will need to be tomorrow now.

Just about to light a fire then start my knitting over again.
Managed to sort finances, but it is really wet so card delivery will just have to wait for a fine day!

Have been catching up by watching the Human Universe progs with Professor Brian Cox - all I can say is - wow - mind-blowingly thought provoking. Two more to go so could do it before SCD later. DH desperate to keep Frankie in so voted last night!

DH preparing topping for cottage pie for dinner.

Feeling very ready for Xmas and still several days left to go!!

well so far this weekend I have found my phone (missing for 3 days - twas in the new Vallimobile) and cleaned the bathroom and kitchen and stripped my bed and made it with fresh bedding and I am starting to plough through the stuff I have been shoving in DD's room, as the vallikids are home this week. Seriously it looks like the beginning of a hoard as in Compulsive Hoarders. Lots of it is work stuff as I don't really have a base. Well I have decided I am going to do some surrepticious moving in somewhere...
I have also managed to find time to make and steam the christmas pudding which should have been done a while back. :eek:I have not put nuts in as it has been requested I don't and I haven't put almond essence in because I had none. :rotfl:
Other then that its as the recipe. It's gone in very, very, pale. I'm hoping that it will turn Christmas Pudding coloured as it steams. I habve never made one before. I dont have a steamer so it's sitting in a metal colander in a big pan;) Obviously this has to be kept hush hush at should have been made much earlier.

And I have done some Christmas shopping.

MummyRoys, Devon's been here for a while, we're not going anywhere and if coming here doesn't make you happy, stay home until you're ready and can enjoy it.

Well done Valli on the pud front. I seem to remember it darkens during steaming, but I haven't made one for years. Can't stand the taste personally, but OH loves it, so I have bought him two mini ones which are wrapped and under the tree.

And thank you LameWolf for your boot up the metaphorical bum - my cards are written! I think next year I'll start them in September - list, envelopes and start the insides - so that the back of the task is broken and all I have to do is some personalised scribbling. I didn't enjoy this last push today, but it is OVER, FINISHED for another year and that feels fab. 1 more gift to wrap, to myself from OH (my poppy, which I forgot to do) and then it's all done.

Therefore: 1 frog munched, 1 to deal with tomorrow and then I can start to breathe more easily.
    Better is good enough.

Narco I'm so pleased your DH is making progress. Bless him, he sounds a really lovely chap.

Jazee you're not well, hun, s0d the Flying, you just get yourself better. x
Glad LittleyDog had a bit better night. Dave sends her a lick and a tail-wag.:o
Can't get used to doing multiple quotes like LW does - a skill for next year!
I was going to reply with instructions, but Dusty beat me to it - see the quote below.:D
JTTOU hit the button to the right of quote, mine is a pink and orange speech bubble then when you hit post reply they will appear (3 max per post I think).
You are correct, it is 3 max per post. There are ways of putting more, but it involves a bit of complicated copy'n'pasting.;)

:TWell done! I have my list on a spreadsheet and just copy it over from the previous year, then delete no-longer-valid entries. The sad thing is the list gets shorter each year. When I first started this method, in 2009, we sent 37 cards; this year it's down to just 25; some of the reduction is down to people we've lost touch with - neighbours who've moved away, that sort of thing, but a scary number are people who have left us for the Summerlands.:(

Evening all! This week has been a tough one at work so flying has taken a back seat as it's taken a lot out of me. Hopefully, this week should be easier. I'd appreciate some flylady thoughts and prayers for 2 boys going through very difficult times (both for very different reasons).

Narco - sending thoughts and prayers for you and DH. Sounds like he is doing well and that you are both deserving of each other xx

Jazee and all other poorlies - gentle hugs x

Don't know if anyone saw the One Show on Friday with the story of the reindeer on the submarine? Well, my Grandfather was on that sub and a photo of him with the crew was shown :D

Now, spurred on by Honey Bear, I am going to finish writing my Christmas cards - only a few left to do.

Thanks for that - you have put my mind at rest. Still got about 2-and-a-half hours steaming to go BUT the improvised steamer is working well.

There's a feature on the Plymouth Gin distillery in today's Express (I am a sucker for the general knowledge crossword in the magazine, though I no longer buy it every week) - saw it and thought of you!

I have sorted through one file (I know it doesn't sound like much but it was in a mess) and it is ready to go back to work. And there is already MUCH more space on DD's bedroom floor...I'm working on the principle of going in, grabbing the nearest 'clump' bringing it out and thinning/homing/bagging to take to work as appropriate.

There has, unfortunately, been an awful lot of 'putting it down' and very little 'putting away'. I feel this rather reflects how I have been feeling IYSWIM. But I am making good progress right now:cool::D

Evening all, another nap has been had (can't remember how many today now, but obviously needed), dinner has been cooked and eaten and the presents that HAVE to be delivered this week have been wrapped.

See you all on the next thread, LittleyDog is demanding attention so its time to get the grooming brushes out.....

does anyone know how these should be dealt with before I hit google?
