Vodafone not providing NUC

  • Hi,

Trying to get my iphone 4 unlocked by Vodafone and the NUC department are ignoring all contacts by both myself and Vodafone staff - (I've seen the email)

2 weeks ago requested PAC code, Last tuesday requested the NUC as the iphone was purchased direct from Apple, not bought as a bundle from Vodafone.

After the quoted 48hrs Service level, (its on the website), I called to speak to someone, got told NUC dont talk to anyone, not even us !, and cut off,,

Called back, someone else offers to help and emails NUC, who respond with what looks like a copy and paste from their webpage quoting timelines, nothing else.

Advisor tells me to go to Vodafone shop - been there before, they advise they cannot do anything and to speak to Vodafone - so in effect the two organisations, ping pong you back and forth.

this shouldnt be the that difficult, and I am now worried after seeing some of the horror stories out there about this talking literally months.

Are Vodafone's NUC department that fireproof that no one can get through to them, or get them to do what they should, it seems as if.

It also seems part of a deliberate ploy by Vodafone to ensure that you have to purchase a new handset EVERY time you swtich contracts, as its impossible to continue using hardware you have purchased.

so they not only control the pricing, but the access and then make devices they didnt even supply effectively useless by locking them to their network without even asking permission or telling the end user.

Is there any help out there ?

I've tried emailing Vodafone direct - no response, and have also emailed lee on here for assistance and got a standard automated response, so be good if someone in Vodafone could do something ?
  • from who - the NUC team - they havent replied to the request from me.

the vodafone internal email - if Lee gives me an email address I'll forward it to him.

Phone bought from Apple store in Cambridge, purchased Vodafone contract at the same time.

Several years and change of contract to Sim only - the phone is locked to Vodafone.
That's different to what you said earlier ........

SILK - go and read it - it wasnt bought as a bundle from VODAFONE or APPLE

I bought the phone in the apple store - transaction number 1
I then bought a contract for Vodafone while in the apple store - transaction number 2

Not bundled - two separate teansactions, and the transactions took place on Apple premises.

And fundamentally, it doesnt matter, I've requested something that I am perfectly entitled to and Vodafone are not providing.

I've followed their processes, and they are choosing to ignore.

Receipt from Apple - NOT Vodafone

It maybe VF that provide you with confirmation of the unlock, but it is Apple that perform the unlock. VF are just a gp between.

You don't get a code for Apple devices - they unlock them and then you complete the process by connecting to iTunes and pressing a few buttons.

    Anon - yes, I've heard that, however;

speak to 02 - they say, Vodafone have to provide the unlock code
speak to Apple - they say, Vodafone have to provide the unlock code

    Trust me - This keeps coming back to Vodafone having to give me the code, EVERYONE, has confirmed that;

    including Vodafone customer services !

I've read it and it still makes no sense!
If you buy a iPhone direct from Apple it is not locked
If you buy an iPhone on contract with a network at a subsidised price it will be locked to that network.

You claim you later went sim only some years later ....why would you need to do that if the contract had not included the iPhone as you would be sim only right from the start.

If the phone was purchased on it's own direct from Apple you need to take it back with the receipt to the store for them to sort out if it's not unlocked.

Silk - its making sense to Vodafone, Apple and O2 !

If you can contribute something to this, then I'm happy to respond to you, but for the moment it looks like you are throwing rocks for the fun of it.

According to Vodafone customer services my circumstances are pretty normal and they have seen it.

According to Apple store staff in cambridge - its normal - quote - i bought my phone here, and put in an EE sim on a sim only deal, three months later I had to get it unlocked.

So, the evidence would suggest what I am saying is the norm, regardless of how much you are ranting against it.

The norm appears to be - buy a phone, insert a SIM, and it gets locked by the provider - do a search on google and you will see a LOT of people in exactly the same position.

Locked iPhone - an iPhone that can only be used on one network provider, the network it was purchased from on a contract. (If you purchased an iPhone from O2 on a 24 month contract, the iPhone will be locked to O2 only).

Unlocked iPhone - an iPhone that was purchased directly from Apple (online or in a branch) or a previously locked iPhone that has been officially unlocked by Apple (usually for a charge, anything between £10-£30 depending on your network).
