Vodafone not providing NUC
Options
Hi,
Trying to get my iphone 4 unlocked by Vodafone and the NUC department are ignoring all contacts by both myself and Vodafone staff - (I've seen the email)
2 weeks ago requested PAC code, 3 days ago requested the NUC as the iphone was purchased direct from Apple, not bought as a bundle from Vodafone.
After the quoted 48hrs Service level, (its on the website), I called to speak to someone, got told NUC dont talk to anyone, not even us !, and cut off,,
Called back, someone else offers to help and emails NUC, who respond with what looks like a copy and paste from their webpage quoting timelines, nothing else.
Advisor tells me to go to Vodafone shop - been there before, they advise they cannot do anything and to speak to Vodafone - so in effect the two organisations, ping pong you back and forth.
this shouldnt be the that difficult, and I am now worried after seeing some of the horror stories out there about this talking literally months.
Are Vodafone's NUC department that fireproof that no one can get through to them, or get them to do what they should, it seems as if.
It also seems part of a deliberate ploy by Vodafone to ensure that you have to purchase a new handset EVERY time you swtich contracts, as its impossible to continue using hardware you have purchased.
so they not only control the pricing, but the access and then make devices they didnt even supply effectively useless by locking them to their network without even asking permission or telling the end user.
Is there any help out there ?

blame apple, they are the one that lock them to the first simDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

No - both Vodafone and O2 tell me that the iphone locks to the fist network that it is put on - so regardless of who the provider is - you have to get it unlocked.
As for apple - their answer is - its up to the provider to give the user the NUC.
So I am back at vodafone and waiting for them to respond.
Though I got to wonder, how are these companies getting away with this behaviour ?, the banks are regulated and watched like hawks, the energy companies are the same, how come OFCOM is so bleeding useless ?
Still not had a response from Vodafone, and 02 are now crediting me with my first month, so cant blame them for trying.0 -
If the phone was bought from Apple it's not locked. They have never sold handsets that lock to the first sim, that was only CPW.
It's easy enough to test, just get a free payg sim and stick it in.0 -

Though Apple do sell stock on contract (that is sold locked to network). If it was bought on contract or upgrade, even from Apple, it will be locked to the network it was sold on (but the network can still arrange the unlock for it).====0 -
I bought my iPhone from the Apple Store in Watford. It was SIM free and unlocked. I put a T Mobile SIM in it with no problems. I've now gone over to 3. Just took the T Mobile SIM out, and the 3 SIM in. No problems whatsoever with the handset. No lock, no hassle.
3 initiating the contract on the other hand, that's another story© Cuilean 2005. Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.0 -

If you bought it sim free from Apple it will always be unlocked, no matter how many sims you use.====0 -
@mammbuddah - thanks for the advice, will find it and post there as well.
Hope you get your issues sorted out - good luck !!0 -
All,
I can only report on my experience.
Phone bought from Apple store in Cambridge, purchased Vodafone contract at the same time.
Several years and change of contract to Sim only - the phone is locked to Vodafone.
Both 02 and Vodafone have confirmed this, and so has Apple.
So there you have it, its locked and needs unlocking - and its down to Vodafone - who arent helping...0 -
