  • Ah yes, the post where he admitted the M3 was a lease that that he doesn't have any more. Although more likely a track day experience his Mum got him for Christmas.

More likely on a Scalextric track!

That's necessarily true. Some cars have actually gone UP in price like the Honda s2000, Toyota Supras and like Justin said, the e39 m5.

I have kept an eye on the prices of Integras over the last couple years and it appears that it actually has not gone down in value at all

If you buy at the right price and keep it long enough you might see the price increase. I guess if you bought in winter and the next summer you might get away with it, but it's still a gamble.

Then you've got all the other indirect factors; insurance fees for changing cars, increased premiums from new cars, the cost of trading the cars and any work you need to do with them like MOT's or services that you don't get the 12 months out of, or new tyres, etc.

If you're planning on getting rid of it in a year, you're better off just sticking with the Corolla and putting the money aside for the car you actually want.

You told us all the M3 was a fantasy and that you were actually driving your dad's 98 Corolla. The A3 was also a myth. Sadly it seems the post where you stated 'I am Darkmatter101' has been deleted by the mods but we're not all forgetful...
    Get a grip chum.

Now he had suddenly got a 2.0 TDi

Compared to the e90 330d yes its up by around 50/50 hp/torque. I thought the 330d you were referring to was the e46 and in that case the e90 325d is slightly ahead in both power and torque

    The 330d in question - remapped E46....
325d is a stupid choice unless you remap it.
Similar fuel consumption of a 330d, and similar performance of 320d.

I see in other thread you said the 335i must be broken, it isn't, it's only done 40k. It is fast, just doesn't feel it and has to be worked.
    Isn't an exciting power delivery.
Is the hard top convertible so guess it weighs a bit too.
Will have to put them up against each other see what happens.
But my mate has had fast cars, and is choosing the older diesel for a reason. I much prefer it too.

The E46 was more 'raw' than the e90's' I'm sure that was the reason the e46 diesel feels faster. The e90 felt more refined as it probably has more sound deadening materials which made it more deceptively quick.

A remapped e46 330d is relatively quick and probably feels very quick, but it would get absolutely stomped on by a remapped e90 330d let alone 335d. A remapped e90 325d would even beat it

I love how these threads always descend into you making bizarre statements about fast 3-series cars and being corrected whilst still trying to pretend you know what you're talking about.

What's that got to do with the Integra you're considering?

I see you have an Audi A3 Tdi with just shy of 200k miles now. :)

They all exist in dm's imagination only.

I've said it before, but it took my E39 M5 by surprise, and gave it a hard time.
It's the power delivery that makes it feel quick, not saying it's quicker than the 335i - but will have to check the power/torque to weight on them.
It's not all about peak figures though, area under the curve is important too.
By the time the 335i has woken up you've surged forward by 20mph in the diesel. That kind of gap takes some clawing back, as I found out in the M5.
Both would be embarrassed by a 98 Corolla though ;)

Ok E46 is 150 kilos lighter, and at least 100 nm more torque - so 25-30% better torque to weight ratio.
It has about 15% worse power to weight ratio.
Still convinced there's that much of a gap?
We were 3 up in both cars, so the torque will come into play more.
