23 days to go
I'm just thinking about getting some money changed prior to going, the rate is around 1.45, is this about average? I've heard atms in vegas are quite expensive but I don't want to take too much cash so will just have to pay occasionally when out there. Just counting down and keeping an eye on the weather!!

hi there
Unsure if it helps but we are keeping an eye on the exchange rate and we are looking at £1-$1.4530
Im unsure in regards the atms over there but im sure i read somehwere on here(prehapsin the cards section above/travel money section?) that if you plan to take money out its better to take one lump sum out rather than 4 wee sums for example.
Its worth checking around though, as i have mentioned there is a travel money section somewhere on the site.
8 weeks for us by the way for new york (8 weeks and 4 days til vegas)0 -
8 weeks will fly by
have you been to either places before?
Good to know 1.45 is about average! I've heard that the ATM charges are around $6 a go which like you say, taking out larger amounts will be better.0 -
We had around $120 left over from our last trip so took that cash and just withdrew cash out over there as and when. Depending on the card you use, the hit you take at withdrawal is comparable or less than the exchange rate conversion you get when buying the currency.
We just home earlier, once I've had some proper sleep I'll let you know what charges we had while out there from hubby withdrawing cash out in walgreens stores.
P.S. Don't forget that some ATMs limit the amount you can withdraw in any one go...0 -
I'm thinking I might pay for most things with my credit card as it has no extra charges and get cash occasionally using my debit card that has no cash charge so the only charge will be the ATM fee, and as you say, you get a better rate anyway so it all works out!
Hope you had a good time! Who did you fly with/where did you stay?0 -

I hope the time flies!!
As i hope said in myprevious post there is a thread on the site(under travel.travel money i think) that gives you a list of companies/stores and there rates(not all so keeplooking around) as they seem to have different rates,
We went to vegaslast year which was fun our first tri p so we were a bit in a dream land sorta state (nothing to do with booze though!) and felt we missed things out so we signed up again!
I cant comment on the charges as last time we took money, and being a lil money tight shall i say i really dont like paying for anything more than i really must
have a blast!0 -
Just found another shopping gift card deal on Travelzoo. Town Square this time. Decisions decisions...

Just a thought, it says you can use them for many shops and restaurants. Wonder if they could be used in restaurants during happy hour? Not that we're short of food and drink options lol.0 -
Hi all
Going back to the resort fees, I am gutted as I was tracking prices and could have booked a few weeks ago with BA with it included.
So does anyone know if there are any UK based companies that include resort fees? Or any website that includes them?
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -

I booked with lowcostusa.co.uk and it included resort fees (not for all holidays did but quite a few) We are staying at the Vdara and the fee is $32.50 a day so I'm very glad it's included!0 -

Not sure re: happy hour. As its a gift card, I can't see it having exclusions as I'd expect it to be treated as cash, having said that though I've not really used or paid much attention to the whole "shopping centre gift card" concept before0
