thanks for the advice on VoF - I feel better now, I was worried I was vastly understating the time and we would end up rushing around at the end.

We are looking forward to meeting the outlaws next trip.

Us too - we're going to the 'outlaws' :rotfl: on Saturday to discuss some bits and pieces and firm up a few plans and will touch base after that to see what might work for all of us.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thanks, the rest of the guys have already booked and have paid £1350 but they are sharing a room, if someone shares with me then it'll come out at the same price. I'd rather pay a bit more and travel with the rest of them rather than go on my own.

That's your travel agent talking nonsense. Vegas hotels charge for the room and don't care if rooms are single or double occupancy. As I said just look at lowcostusa for your dates and bellagio is £500 inc resort fees. The flights you want are £760 on skyscanner so there's £1260 rather than £1500.

If you are rigid on the hotel, dates and exact flights you're not likely to find much cheaper than that.

I think he meant that that's the price for the room (which current plans just has him in it) and so if one more person comes then they'll pay for part of the room so his share will go down. I agree if you can get the flights and hotel separately for a fair savings then might as well do that...not sure what add ons may have been included in the original price (any checked luggage/seating and that sort of thing).

Wondering what people think of the Trump Hotel. Seems to be an ok location and reasonable reviews on Tripadvisor. We're using avios to pay for the hotel and this is the best priced "5 star" one that comes up for our dates.

We're not too bothered about having a top notch hotel as don't tend to spend much time in the hotel when on a city type holiday. TIA

Trump is next to Fashion Show mall so quite far North Strip, and a bit of a walk to the Strip to boot as it's set back quite a bit. Some would consider it too far away from the epicentre (corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas boulevard) but North Strip has could be argued the best hotels and casinos.
There is no casino and it has been said that the pool area is very hot because of the reflection of all the gold coloured glass. I would be alright staying there for the location.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Thanks for that. We don't really gamble - will have a go on some cheap slots or something, but not really interested in that. Will do some shopping, certainly, but mainly sight seeing and not sure if we'll use the pool as only staying 3 nights.

Vdara is a little bit more, so might that be a slightly better option, location-wise?
  • I liked Trump. I liked the rooms, the pool was nice, but it was boiling up there because of the glass. That was in September and the pool staff said it's 10 degrees hotter than the strip up there. Everyone was commenting on the heat!

They had a shuttle to Wynn when we were there. Not sure if they still do? We also used to cross the road and enter the back of Fashion Show Mall to get to the strip. If you like North Strip it's not inconvenient, but if you like south strip you'll find it a long way away! If you want to shop, it's very handy both for fashion show mall or a quick taxi to the north outlets. :)

Not sure why you asked if the price was OK if you are going to have to book it anyway?

Have you checked Expedia for same package.
Note your return flight is to Gatwick and connecting flight is from Heathrow.

You can get a later flight back to Heathrow and a direct connection for £200 cheaper

I can't find the flight for £200 cheaper, would gladly come back myself on the later flight if it was saving £200 and didn't require travelling between gatwick and heathrow but I can only see it for the same price at the moment, unless I make 2 stops both ways and travel for 24 hours +

I've just checked Expedia and its £1345. It was 1289 the other day. I'm just checking on my mobile so can't easily post screenshot.

Hey guys, might be useful to some:

Doing my checks for our upcoming trip, I just noticed car rentals with Dollar are looking pretty good, so if u are doing a car this year, maybe worth checking the rentals at the mo!

And despite vowing never to use Dollar again after last year (cos they put an AUTH on my prepaid card for $300, given I had pre-paid for everything inc fuel, so they couldn't bill my card anyway!)
, after seeing this deal, decided to bite the bullet :)

Mine is 1 way booking for the week, as doing LAS to LAX....
Previously, a 2dr Full size with USrentacar.co.uk had been £141 without fuel, and £171 with fuel....

Today, it is £141 without fuel, and £143 with fuel !!!! (& Xtra drivers)...

So I just booked.. Usual plan will be to tip the garage guy $10 or $20 to get upgrade to Luxury class like I did last year :D
And yes, Usrentacar link my DE account with the booking, so no front desk queues :)
