Slight flaw in the plan- navigation doesn't work in offline work.

NavMii works in Android on offline maps. You have to down them by state by does work. I use it in the UK all the time.

How about HERE Maps? It's FREE and you can download maps by state. I've already downloaded California and Nevada for my trip and you don't need data.

I don't know if you can get it on iOS but you can definitely get it on Android and Windows Phone.

I'm going to be using Waze (because I'll have data) but I'm using HERE when I don't have any signal as a backup!
