Catheters, we buy hundreds of them, can't sell them quick enough.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

At the mo, am seeing the prices high to fly to LA in July, so might stick with going late June (got my tracker locked on flying out on the 19th, return 14 or 15 days later)....
Target is to get a flight to LA for £460 or less :)
  • Hi All,

Me & my partner are currently have opposite views about what is best for our 5 days in Vegas at the end of May/Beginning of June for our honeymoon.

Can i have the opinions of everyone who has been to help us?
Her opinion is that we pay a little extra at £500ish and get one of the suites at either MGM,Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Vdara Etc...
OR stick with the standard room's like MGM, Luxor, Monte Carlo, NYNY etc....
My point is that we wouldn't spend much time in there but she is worried the rooms will be very basic, but i feel we could use the £200+ on shows or other things while we are.
What's everyone experience of staying in either?
    Thanks!

We have experienced both ends of the room scale - lovely suites at Bellagio, Mirage and Cosmo, and then basic rooms in Luxor, NYNY and Monte Carlo (we used the $20 tip on the last two and got upgrades to suites tho ;))

For my honeymoon I would want an extra special trip so I would say a room like those at the cosmo with the view of the fountains and a balcony to chill out on after a hard days walking! However if you went for a basic room then i don't think you would be too bothered, as you said wont be spending that much time in it anyway.

Here is a couple of pics of basic and suites where i have stayed:

Ok, so you would recommend Comso? Do all the rooms overlook the fountains? Can you still get upgrades with myvegas.com?

  • We had a week in DC prior to heading to Vegas. Like Stoneman, we accumulate airmiles from Credit Card signups and Tesco Clubcard extra point promotions. We had earned a 2 for 1 voucher with BA Amex card so booked flights to DC in first and back from Orlando in Club for around 200,000 avios and £1,000 in taxes.
To get to Vegas we had to fly via SFO as there were no direct flights from IAD. We redeemed Virgin Flying miles and flew First which set up back 95,000 Virgin miles each and around $12 in US taxes!

I have made a small shared album on my NAS drive, hopefully you can view the pics from there: http://188.220.215.215:8080/photo/share/sDX0omup

We got a taxi from the airport and told the driver no tunnel (he was upset!) and headed straight to Monte Carlo for a three night mlife comped stay. As it was the Saturday before Memorial Day it was heaving! We must have queued for nearly an hour in the check in line! Anyway we hit the front and I laid down $50 with our ID and CC and asked the man behind the desk if he could do anything for our 5 year wedding anniversary tomorrow. He saw the $50, made some phone calls and went away to speak to someone standing a little further away, he offered the Monaco Suite complimentary upgrade for the three nights, we asked for the Spa suite and asked if he could try for that…… a few phone calls to housekeeping and result! He took the $50 and asked if we needed change! (They must be used to everyone paying $20!)
We spent the evening gambling in Monte Carlo and ended up having a late night Pizza in the new pizza place at the front. Was delicious!

We spent the next day doing a bit of shopping, headed to town square and whilst there had lunch and cocktails at Tommy Bahamas with our travelzoo vouchers (which incidentally never got redeemed by them and we had a refund from travelzoo a few weeks ago!) We got a taxi there and back.
We headed over to Cosmo and gambled in there whilst enjoying the cocktails, and met a couple who had spare tickets to comedian Craig Ferguson, so we went along with them for the rest if the evening!
Next day we had a daybed at Monte Carlo next to the last river, which was $300, but we got our money’s worth with breakfast and lunch, and managed to bag 2 bottles of wine and 6 bottles of the fuji water to take up to the room at the end to meet the spend.
We then hit Prime at Bellagio for our anniversary dinner. I won’t say too much about this, except I had better steak in Tender at Luxor! The wine was nice though.

On checkout of Monte Carlo the mlife desk couldn’t comp anything else, they said because the room was already comped we could not have any more taken from the bill.

We moved hotels to NYNY – we had two separate one night redemptions with Myvegas and then one night which we paid for separately. We ended up upgrading the room to a players suite for $150 for the three nights, but in hindsight it wasn’t worth it, and not a room I would stay in again. I think also because we had a mess up of charges on checkout – they were charging for the myvegas rooms and the third night which I had already prepaid online. Think the person who did the linked upgrade at the start must have messed up the booking. It all got sorted in the end.
We had better luck at the NYNY mlife desk, they removed all our food and pool charges based on our gambling. So it seems that the best way to get food and drink comped is to pay for the room.
We enjoyed the Terry Fator show– thanks to the free ticket link that someone posted up early in the year.

Overall it was a semi successful trip on the gambling front, we came away with 60% of gambling money which we then managed to spend in Orlando on the last part of our trip!

We are looking to go back to Vegas next year some time, most probably doing the ‘Ex Eu’ departure trick as we can coincide this with a trip to family in Ireland.

Nice view! I do have enough points on MyVegas to get 25% off rooms at MGM & Mirage, Monte Carlo, NYNY so that might be worth while using?
