  • Nice view! I do have enough points on MyVegas to get 25% off rooms at MGM & Mirage, Monte Carlo, NYNY so that might be worth while using?

Check out the first page as i know smartervegas also have discounted hotel rates. I know you said end of May - if its on memorial day then rates will be high that weekend.
A good tactic is to book a refundable rate with a hotel now and then keep looking for better deals.
I haven't been looking at myvegas lately but i'm sure you may be able to get better use of the points rather than 25% off room

Memorial Day is on the 30th May. Hotels.com hasn't knocked on much in terms of price for that date for us. The dates we are going is the Monday 30th to Friday 3rd.

I am going may 29th to june 9th

rooms are more expensive than normal on sun 29th.and possibly the monday

For a honeymoon I would choose any of the suites at Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Vdara
the basic rooms at Venetian/Pallazzo are classed as suites but are one room as are many suites in Vegas, but are very nice as is the hotel in general.

The Cosmo only overlooks the fountains one side, not sure if a fountain view can be purchased at time of booking or not, we have had a room with terrace overlooking the fountains and the view is special.

either of the above would be great for a honeymoon IMO

as of course would many others and you will get lots of different views on here.

I would forget myvegas for the discount and look on some of the discount sites like smartervegas or lowcostusa but it is quite a long way out so the best prices may not be available yet

    Hi All,

Me & my partner are currently have opposite views about what is best for our 5 days in Vegas at the end of May/Beginning of June for our honeymoon.

Can i have the opinions of everyone who has been to help us?
Her opinion is that we pay a little extra at £500ish and get one of the suites at either MGM,Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Vdara Etc...
OR stick with the standard room's like MGM, Luxor, Monte Carlo, NYNY etc....
My point is that we wouldn't spend much time in there but she is worried the rooms will be very basic, but i feel we could use the £200+ on shows or other things while we are.
What's everyone experience of staying in either?
    Thanks!

Basic room in the venetian will be a suite. The bathrooms are also enormous. Wouldn't have thought you need to upgrade from that.

He took the $50 and asked if we needed change! (They must be used to everyone paying $20!)
    .

No - asking if you need change is their way of confirming it's a tip. Covers them if someone comes back later and claims it wasn't a tip but something else.

Ok, so you would recommend Comso? Do all the rooms overlook the fountains? Can you still get upgrades with myvegas.com?

not all overlook the fountains and normally the fountain view rooms are more than those without. All but their basic room have terraces which are fantastic, a real treat to be able to go outside and soak in the Vegas-ness. The view south (non-fountain) is pretty good too, and if anyone is like my husband, can spend ages talking about the various planes arriving and departing from the airport.

Last trip we were offered an upgrade to a wraparound terrace for $75/night extra. We have previously declined the upgrade at $150/night and so knew $75 was a good deal and decided to treat ourselves. Favourite room we have ever stayed in. 1200 square feet, corner room with terrace on the strip side and around to the Bellagio side. Full kitchen. Two full bathrooms. It was probably more living space than our house. :)

Cosmo is not one of the MGM group properties so it is not a property that is associated with myvegas. It used to be the case that lowcostusa.co.uk had some good deals for Cosmo.

Then again, it may all be relative to what you are used to - many standard rooms in Vegas will be a lot nicer than what many are used to in Europe...so it depends on how far the budget will stretch, but for a honeymoon it may be worth doing something a little bit extra.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I do like the Cosmo being honest... ive checked low cost usa and they are offering the following -

    Double 1 Bedroom-Fountain View-Terrace

    £526 Call Now

    Studio Fountain View-Studio-Terrace

Both of these seem good, but i would imagine the studio is the better?
  • Ive also found this at the Wynn -

The 1 Bedroom is one step-up from the Studio. The Cosmo website has pretty good floor plans and room descriptions.

I liked the Cosmo a lot (we had the One Bedroom Suite). The Wynn is a gorgeous hotel but if you're only in Vegas for a short time, I don't think you can beat the location of the Cosmo. North of the Wynn is like a building site at the moment.

That Cosmo wraparound suite was absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the tour.
