    TR continued
Most days are spent relaxing by the pool for 3 hours or so then going out for dinner. Tonite was Mon Ami Gabi, I remember for years we used to walk past the terrace thinking "oh that looks expensive", then one day we looked at the menu, chicken $19. That'll do me, so began a long relationship with MAG where we would always eat twice during a trip. Recently though things have begun to sour a bit, they took off both Mine and Tracy's favourite meals, the staff began acting if they were doing you a favour, and to top it all off for some reason you can not hear the Bellagio fountains anymore. But tonite was different. We had the most disinterested waiter ever, a combination of having a British accent and not spending very much, (we are really light eaters) meant that we got virtually no service at all. so that is the last time we will be visiting.
I won't bore you with visiting casinos, gambling, etc, so lets move on.

I think the next day we decided to go to Joe's Crab Shack in Henderson. Great seafood at good prices. We have the Steam pot for 2, which comes in at $40. there is Dungeness Crab, shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, and for some strange reason they put a sausage in there as well.

Next day we ventured out to the new Downtown Summerlin, very nice and they had Tracy's to fav shops, Ulta and Sephora, so while she was spending time in there I headed over to Red rock resort to play a bit of Black Jack.

So now we have Saturday, we always have a shopping day at Fashion Show, Wynn, Venecian, and then pick our medical supplies up to bring home and sell on eBay.
Saturday night is fancy dinner night, and we chose to go back to Charlie Palmers at the four Seasons. Now this place has some seriously expensive food, but for some reason they also have 2 of the most inexpensive set menus that I have seen. They don't really advertise them much, but look through their site and you will find the "cut of the week" which is 3 courses with your entree being a steak. Then there is the "Tribute to Micheal Jackson" this is 3 courses as well but you have a choice of 2 things for each course. The best part is that you have bottomless wine with both of them. you will get a white for the appatiser, and then a Red for the remaining 2 courses. All this for $48 each.

Sunday, it's damp and the temperature has cooled so what do we do, we go for our long run. Out to the railway lines past the Vegas sign, then back along the strip to SLS and back to the Platinum, best part of 10 miles.
We have some !!!!!! credits to use so decide to go the the Sunday Brunch at Bellagio, I upgrade to unlimited Champagne. I'm still not too keen on buffets, all that food and soo little place to put it all. I kinda feel cheated that I haven't eaten enough, so I work on the champagne instead.

Venture out that evening to our usual haunts, Bellagio, Cromwell, Cosmo, and finish off at Planet Hollywood, boy this place becomes more of a dump every time I come here. We only came over to go to Earl of Sandwich. Wait till you see what they have now, Mac&Cheese and Brocolli and Chedder soup, what's not to like.

Next day just wander around doing a bit of daytime gambling, then we decide to go on a hunt, a hunt for the burned out BA plane. I can see it with my binoculars somewhere around the cargo section of the airport. I get google maps out, find round about where it might be and off we go.
We find her parked up at the FEDEX cargo facility. If you go to the Walmart on Eastern, drive to the end of the side road along where the planes line up, follow the road around to the end, you will see her.

We're now hungry, so it's off to Maggianos at Fashion Show for the lunch menu. I have the spegitti and meatball, Tracy has the lighter portion Chicken Scaloppine

    More later

Say what? That's got to go on the list...it's rare for me to find a mac and cheese I do not like in America.

I also meant to say earlier you appear to be getting younger. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

The Mac and cheese was very nice, as you can see by the photo it was baked.
Oh and thanks for he compliment, the love of a good woman and growing my hair probably help

  • Thanks for the detailed TR stoneman, enjoyed reading it.

Just arrived back myself from Vegas on Saturday. It was the last stop on a 14 day trip after San Francisco and Seattle.

Decided to stay Downtown this time, getting fed up of all the walking along the Strip. :)

Stayed at the Plaza, nothing fancy but the rooms were large and clean, and it was only £57 for 4 nights via ebookers (plus the flaming resort fee when we arrived!), so it left a bit more cash for gambling.

Really enjoyed the Downtown experience. Yes there are a few strange people around, and I'm still trying too get the images of the Diaper and Mankini men out of my head, but none of them bothered us, other than that it was fine.

Some great bands playing on the 3 stages along Fremont and plenty of cheap beer , what more could you want.

After years of staying at various hotels on the 'Strip', I think Downtown will be my choice for the next couple of trips, and with new rules starting in November there should hopefully be less 'mankini's' around on the next trip.

OMG Mankini man. I'd blocked that sight from my memory
    Ewwwwwww

I've decided to forget the Strip hotels with the mega walks Flamingo and CP never seemed bad (always got a decent tower in CP) but the Luxor was a pain.....even for free.

I loved the Tuscany and still like the Orleans so comps or the odd special night apart I think we'll be sticking with them. Might try the Plat for a girlie trip but not with OH as he'd just argue with me when I told him the balcony was non smoking too (as I believe they are at the Plat)

Made it back ok, Skint and very tired lol. Bum is still numb haha.
We all made Pearl status with !!!!!! and once again they comped all our food n beverage we charged to the room.
We had plenty of drinks round the pool, room service a few times and also charged a $200 meal to the room. Wish we had charged more now :(
    Early night tonight.
  • Loving the trip report stoneman. Thanks for taking the time to write it.

We went in April, and I would love to go back before the end of the year, but husband really fancies a change. He really wants to go to Gran Canaria, and whilst I do fancy a week cycling, nothing ever compares to LV.

What dates are you there next July? We were going to do our usual end of June/beginning of July but the reward seats weren't available so we'll be there 7th - 17th July instead :)
