Thanks for all the responses to my hotel query. Lesley, I've never thought of splitting the days up. Good idea and I'm assuming that you can ring the hotel to link them after you've booked. I'll also not book it just yet.
We used Priceline last year and it was fine. Got a great price for the Venetian. We booked about a month before we went.0 -
Out of all the Stations Hotels is Palace Station the nearest to TI?
Just been looking at Myvegas rewards and there are breakfast/dinner for two at all the Station Hotels.Because it was so cheap I got Green Valley Ranch one but am now beginning to rethink this as taxi fare alone is the cost of a nice meal on the strip!!
Still might get Palace one though just to have with us iincase we fancy it and it's not as far.Does anyone have any thoughts on these buffets and are they worth going for(we will be taking a taxi).
Palace Station is OK. Good rules on VP if you play that, and low limit tables if that is what you like. The have a shuttle from FSM but we usually take a bus. We have never tried their buffet but like some of their other restaurants. I think there are rewards for a few of them.0 -
has anyone done the scoot city tour to redrock? I'm planning to do this with my daughter next week.0

Just back from the strip. Took us a while to get back to Platinum. They had police 'crime scene' tape up at the gap between Flamingo and Cromwell. We decided to go through Cromwell, couldn't get out the back door. Back to front of Cromwell, up over walkway to Bally's. Security blocking escalators to get back across to Cromwell saying they think there's a bomb. Road is blocked to traffic, but no-one telling folk to move. Police tape stopping anyone walking along Flamingo. We ask if we can get out back door of Bally's, they said they think so. We did, walked back over to Platinum.
Just checked Fox News and they're saying there's a suspicious item and police are clearing the are. Ok, they've blocked the road but they're doing nothing about people walking. I suppose it's quite hard in such a busy city at such a busy intersection! Looks like an early night for us. We were supposed to go to Fizz for birthday drinks but there was a private party on. Need to try again tomorrow night.0 -
Entirely up to you if Credit Cards worry you too much...however, bear in mind if you use a card to pay something, and have the money in the bank to pay it, you're not actually getting 'in debt'. I doubt any of us on here are spending outwith our means, we all tend to be real moneysavers and I doubt any (or many) are paying interest (as that can be costly!!).
nvh has given a good suggestion too. Use the card, transfer money to savings, pay the bill when it comes in. Maybe even make some money in interest from it. I have heard people say they don't trust themselves with credit cards though too. If anyone feels it would make them overspend then it's a bad idea too!
Ok thank you for the response!
i tend to buy things when i Hvae money to buy things and always assumed paying by credit card was like i ll buy now and pay later sorta thing but i can see the benefits if you use a credit card and have the money to pay things off there and then sorta thing!
Im not too experinced in the whole credit card thing, and i think i would only use a credit card if there was like gaurenteed benefits, which im sure nothing is every gaurenteed !
but thanx for your repsonse and im so jealousy your in vegas at the moment !!

Some credit cards have an option where they automatically take the full amount each month from your current account, so you never pay them any interest. With this option you need to make sure you've got enough in the current account to cover the payment each month, and you need to make sure that you don't exceed your credit limit which can be a bit confusing due to the monthly "cut-off" date often being long before the monthly payment date.
Some credit cards have fringe benefits (such as Tesco's offering ClubCard points on purchases).
Some credit cards have a monthly fee. With these you would need to check whether the benefits justify the fee and that depends on how much use the benefit are to you."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0 -

We drove there down the strip then left onto Flamingo at10:30pm and everything was open again. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Well that wasn't pleasant. First warm up run this morning, 6 miles out to the rail tracks at the end of the runway and back in 32 degree heat. Now for the pool for the next 3-4 hours.
Yesterday first full day, picked up 2 Apple watches from Fashion Show saving £150 on buying them in the UK. Then got the car from TI, despite me forgetting the conformation voucher they found the reservation no problem.
Then off the Walmart on Eastern and spent North of $350 on stuff for the room and take homes.
An hour by the pool then out to Palazzo where they made a damn good attempt to extract all the money in one night that we won off of them the last trip, but we fought back in the end.
Oh and the "drinks to you" now works on all the machines not just the ones on the left, and they work a treat. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
