I didn't realize LAS has four runways. Can't imagine how long the delays would have been if it had happened at LHR or LGW

I'm not so sure it isn't new - and it's Global Entry (which you pay for) that has been around a few years . According to flyertalk this is different and seperate and was trialing at selected airports earlier this year but full roll out was July this year.

Ooh. Please enlighten me more? To be clear, an ESTA holding, UK passport holder who has visited the states in the last five years can use these?

Were they much quicker? (Chicago for us has historically been queue-tastic!)

Did people direct you / encourage you to use them?

Edit: I am so gutted I never knew this!! Been knocking around since 2013 apparently. I'll break it to Mrs.NVH that its a "new" thing ;):D

  • Virgin Reward seat sale too! Only 20% off but that's fine by me. Just booked our flights for 2016 - 34,000 miles and £227 (including credit card fee).

Availability doesn't seem to be as good as last year, virtually nothing in June unless you want to be there over 4th July weekend (lots of fun I'm sure but don't fancy the room rates!)

    So excited :j:j:j

Thanks again for the responses,

Entirely up to you if Credit Cards worry you too much...however, bear in mind if you use a card to pay something, and have the money in the bank to pay it, you're not actually getting 'in debt'. I doubt any of us on here are spending outwith our means, we all tend to be real moneysavers and I doubt any (or many) are paying interest (as that can be costly!!). The only interest I'm paying is the pennies on the cash withdrawals from the Halifax Clarity card, and that's less than it would be to withdraw from a debit card, so I'm doing it because it's cost effective and not 'free money'.

nvh has given a good suggestion too. Use the card, transfer money to savings, pay the bill when it comes in. Maybe even make some money in interest from it. I have heard people say they don't trust themselves with credit cards though too. If anyone feels it would make them overspend then it's a bad idea too!

Anyway, entirely up to you, but you really shouldn't see it as debt if you have the money set aside to pay it.

Out of all the Stations Hotels is Palace Station the nearest to TI?
Just been looking at Myvegas rewards and there are breakfast/dinner for two at all the Station Hotels.Because it was so cheap I got Green Valley Ranch one but am now beginning to rethink this as taxi fare alone is the cost of a nice meal on the strip!!
Still might get Palace one though just to have with us iincase we fancy it and it's not as far.Does anyone have any thoughts on these buffets and are they worth going for(we will be taking a taxi).

    What are people's thoughts?

Priceline is rarely a good option in Vegas

Book something now ( if you must) that is refundable and would be OK and then look at the multiple offers that will come for Vegas hotels over the next few months.

I do that all the time, keep the money in various high interest accounts, spend all on Charge or CC's then pay off.

Takes some discipline but it's not that hard.

Most of them have shuttles - Red Rock definitely did and that's much further out than Palace .

The good deals are harder to find in Vegas than in other cities for sure. And to book around 10 nights, prepaying for next May you really do have to think it's a good deal, as you have no idea what will come up between now and then.

We got a good deal on Palazzo and Venetian a few years ago. Also got a good deal on Trump (knowing it was Trump we were getting, rather than a mistake and we did like trump). We have also stayed at The Westin very cheaply (£30 per night I think). I have also seen Treasure Island and others on there at good deals. SLS throws a spanner in the works now for North Strip 4* have to be careful if looking for TI and end up with SLS. Similarly in the lower categories South Strip there's a few very cheap properties in there...so you could be thinking you're going for something else and end up with Luxor which can be $30 per night anyway...so not worth the uncertainty.
