I really want to like the Trop but there's just something I don't like about it -not sure what it is. .

Thank you! I am exactly the same. I just don't like it...and the refurb did nothing to change my mind.

Sorry your birthday was a bit crap, but it sounds like you had a good trip, overall.

I am so confused about the references to "senior", though...but if I recall, some places 'senior' in Vegas really isn't...I think I had this same confusion with someone else....pebbles or photome (maybe both), I think.

We've booked our flights for next May! We're going for 10 days and starting to look at hotels now. We'd like to stay at the Venetian again as husband says I can't take him to a 5 star hotel one time in Vegas and then a 3 star one the next time...

So I've still got a screen shot of Lesley's post about telling the hotels apart on Priceline Express. I think I've narrowed it down to 2. One is £149 a night and one is £82 a night. Both are 8.0, both have a bed choice. Venetian for the same period is £200 per night on their own site, £184 per night on booking.com

    What are people's thoughts?

    This is the £149 one:

And this is the £82 one:

    https://www.priceline.com/hotelxd/getDealOverview.do?jsk=354a050a364a050a20150908195001f8f010240200&plf=PCLN&hdsk=iebrudrm&dealID=3700341C54653CB43FE009F166DC4E88&dealKey=1f3spce8qi&itinKey=1dm4qlw.ioi22kg0.iowch340.1&rpg=1&sqdp=4B01D33FF7A4E37959E6C2A8C4FDE7C385E97E181A34D538

I don't know if people can see these links, but I put our dates (check in May
22nd, check out June 1st), filtered down to North Strip and the one at the top is the one I think may be the Venetian. The £82 one is the bottom one.

Links not working for me and only a brief response as we're getting ready to head over to Spice Market shortly...

I'm ending up on the US site, so will try to answer based on what I'm seeing on there (you need to convert to know the rates!).

5* - This is venetian. Parking, casino etc.

    $225/night

4.5* - as NVH says, careful...this isn't 5* and is not Venetian or Palazzo. It's probably Mirage (I'm not sure though without looking up hotel lists).

I wouldn't advise booking these just now. They're not a great deal and it's early days. Consider splitting up your nights on there and see what you get too.
  • If staying in a Caesars property, is there anything to be gained by showing mLife Card in MGM properties when paying? ie Do you get special pricing &/or points for status.

    from mlife

How do I earn Tier Credits?
You earn Tier Credits for virtually every dollar you spend - including gaming - across all our M life resorts. For every dollar you spend on your hotel stay, dining, entertainment, or spa you earn Tier Credits - in Las Vegas you earn 25 Tier Credits per dollar spent; at Beau Rivage, Gold Strike Tunica, and MGM Grand Detroit you earn 8 Tier Credits per dollar spend.

For slot play in Las Vegas M life casinos, you receive ten (10) Tier Credits for every Base Point earned. When playing at Beau Rivage or Gold Strike Tunica, you receive two (2) Tier Credits for every Base Point earned. At MGM Grand Detroit, you receive one (1) Tier Credit for every Base Point earned. For table games, you'll earn Tier Credits based on length of play, average bet, and game type.

To ensure Tier Credits are credited to your M life account, always use your M life card while playing slots and table games at any participating MGM Resorts International destination. Also, show your M life card at the time of each qualifying purchase, or charge these purchases to your room and present your M life card to the Front Desk at the beginning of your stay.

I suppose it depends on how much you will be spending and since tier credits accumulate from 1st Oct to 30th Sept each year, whether there would be much benefit...you would have to spend quite a lot to move up a tier.

indeed on the <eye roll>...but hey, at least you get free stuff? sometime within the next 4 years or so they will no doubt increase the limit and I will be grumbling about not being a "senior".

so we're sat in the departure Lounge at LAX waiting for the airport to open again
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
