I'm not sure about early flight either! We got in at 630 this year (has ranged from 630 to 9pm in the past, depending on the connection from philly across to Vegas or wherever). Getting in at 630 this year meant we only had an hour or two to kill before going to bed and not having too early a night. This is my worry in Vegas, early night means up earlier and more tired next day. One time (long time ago our first trip) we did a Thomas cook flight and it got in early afternoon, I seem to remember we were dead on our feet by about 6pm, although we were at the Mardi Gras and walked to the strip and had a sit down meal at Trevi which was something else back then (Bertolinis or something?). We ate there the next couple of trips on our first night.
Bit cloudy this morning here, time to go for a walk then breakfast!
I guess we could pick the car up and do all the food shopping. That should waste a few hours. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Cheers stoneman - whilst we aren't necessarily Avios poor, we do try to be economical with them and sub-200k, + cash seems excellent use for F.
As a side note, I also didn't realise that they were shifting LAS flights (and a ton of other long hauls) to T3. We love the CX lounge so that's a good thing (apart from it probably means it will be busier now!), but I think it throws any chance of us ever getting a connection from MAN ever again - hate changing terminals at Heathrow (the security there seems to kill my lust for life, more and more each time!)

Yes the LAS flights are moving to T3 from October. I think there is a dedicated airside bus at flight connections T5 that goes straight to T3, takes about 6 minutes.
The CX lounge is nice if you like noodles. If you are Gold or traveling in First you have access to the GF lounge, which is better IMO to the CX lounge. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. I hated that 1pm landing from Gatwick. I remember meeting ferf in the sports bar of Planetho at 6pm on the day she arrived off of the Virgin flight. Her hubby had gone to bed, and she could barely keep her eyes open.

Another thing to consider is that you might not get in early at The Platinum (assuming you're staying there). We had terrible bother getting in early last year. Was annoying as it was my 40th that day when we arrived by car about 2pm or 3pm and we didn't get into the room for an hour and a half. I'm sure it was 5pm or later. Then we had to get housekeeping as the room hadn't been cleaned properly (couple of things quite filthy!), so we struggled for time with our plans for that evening.
I've emailed ahead this year about getting in early as we will move from Wynn on Friday. Derek has forwarded my message to the front desk folks and asked them to diarise to get us in early that day. Hopefully that will work. Our car will need to be back for 7pm that night at the airport, so we will want to get the fridge stocked up for our remaining 8 nights.0 -

To be fair, hubby wasn't feeling well or he would have joined us and not headed up to the room.
We do still like the Virgin flight time, we usually manage to make it to 9 or 10. Usually...Vegas buzz kicks in...then we start to crash and get something to eat, which then give us a second wind for a bit. Though rarely sleep until much after 4 the first morning, at least I don't...hubby will give it a good try.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

You're right re: noodles, but they do a great portion of sausages for breakfast and also some fantastic wines (we have never done F so can't comparebut with none-Gold status if beats T5 Galleries hands down
not that that says much! Haha)

it may say 6 minutes on the tin, but feels about 60 once you throw in going through security again

You might be better looking at DUB departures then. Booked through AA using your BAEC number will also get you more TP's, but you already know thatThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Ended up getting a snack from wholefoods (salad bar which was great!) for breakfast yesterday while out walking. Back over to GVR and down to pool. Had redeemed a buffet in the morning, but decided to keep it for lunch. Queue was huge, but we decided to just go with it or we'd lose a myvegas reward potentially. And we were going shopping but not in any hurry.
Drove up to North Rainbow area for some shopping, and also Craig blvd for a couple of speciality places. Then to a Walmart near the North airport, then down to Silverton for dinner buffet (2/1 LVA coupon). Silverton was also busy but we got in fairly quickly and seated ok. Busy day as it's over 50s half price, but they seemed to be geared up for it, not like GVR was earlier as they knew it was the last day for their coupons and should have realised they'd be busy. Also military mondays making it busy too. Think they get half price every monday.
After Silverton we came back to GVR, dropped off the shopping (not as much as yesterday!), and back down to casino, to redeem a couple of myVegas drinks and then played slots for a bit. Both lost what we played ($20 each or so), but got a couple of drinks.
Today we move to Wynn, heading down to gym for a bit, then pack, then breakfast, pool, then out of here for 12. Can do checkout via the tv, so we'll do that right before 12 and then get out of the room and over to Wynn. I'm not fancying our chances of getting checked in at Wynn though, need to wait and see.0 -
Hello,
We're having 4 nights in LV in October, it's not our first time but we want to spend more time over at Freemont St - can anyone recommend a good restaurant (not buffet) for a nice meal to start off the evening.
Ideally somewhere that we're not rushed, but can enjoy good food and a few drinks at our own pace.
Thanks in advance for any help :-)0 -
