I've a mate going to Vegas from London landing friday night at 8pm via LAX and departing on the Sunday at 3pm (I know its crazy short) Flying in for a fighting event.

Options are staying in Flamingo go room 185.03 dollars inc resort fee or Hard Rock basic room (single occupancy) Hard Rock is about 40 dollars more Dec 11-13.

I'm thinking the Hard Rock would be better based on proximity to the garden arena. Anyone a member of Hard rock loyalty program?

    Thoughts?

This time we stayed at Hotel Sixty LES (lower east side) after a deal came up on hotels.com (7 nights was £900, which was a ridiculous bargain for a 4* with an outdoor pool in August). We're NYC veterans, been 6 times in 8 years and love the place. We actually prefer to stay in Brooklyn now (Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope) as we no longer feel the need to do all the typical tourist things in midtown. Love the local shops, bars and restaurants. We are always walking and hopping on and off the subway to explore! Averaged 9 miles a day of walking last week!

You will definitely find the flight home much better by doing NYC last, breaks up the jet lag :)

Ok thanks alot for the feedback. When we stayed in june we stayed at the sheraton times sqaure which suited us really(our first time).
we ve booked up again for next year, due to alot for the touristy stuff being near, and for 2 lads, there was a pub 1minute upthe road and a pizza place, what more can we ask for?
ye that was the idea for coming back with regards flights,

not to take the thread too off-piste, but been NYC only ever once and we stayed in Brooklyn - it was 100% for us - not a fan of NYC really but loved Brooklyn

Fully recommend Franks Prime Meats - one of the best steaks I've ever had! :) and 200th Fifth Sports bar bar is a great hangover place :)

Feel daft commenting on this, as I've never stayed at either, but given the choice and what i've read, I'd go Flamingo Go... :)

I'll let others with more knowledge pitch in to contradict me though :D

    Flamingo as
    1 Nicer hotel
    2 On Strip
3 Is on the Monorail so far easier getting to MGM for the fight

Going for such a short time central is everything !

Closer than either and the same price that weekend is the Tropicana but as I've been in Vegas when it snowed that time of year personally I'd opt for the warmer monorail as it can be chilly so for me still the Flamingo

FWIW, for such a short time and for ease why not stay where the fight is at the MGM

I can probably answer that one as I took a look at prices for those nights- MGM (and NY NY and others nearby) are all suffering from fight price bloating on those dates and are very expensive for December. Flamingo, Hard Rock and Tropicana were all normal December pricing (for now)

Just logged into my Social Rewards account to find out I've been kicked off. Several reasons given, take your pick. Spitting mad about this, I had around 2k points in there and was about to exchange them for our upcoming trip.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Certainly not an urban myth. I've used it myself loads of times, only twice not worked and that was the Trop and Flamingo
