If you book direct through the hotel website you will be required to pay the first nights stay, plus taxes.
They will take the rest of the payment after your stay.
You can cancel the reservation usually anytime up to a day or two before your arrival date without cost to you.You would be refunded your initial payment you made.
It's quite a good way to book,as if there is a good price with the hotel, you can "provisionally" book it as a fall back plan.If anything better comes along that is a great deal, you can cancel the booking, and it's cost you nothing.
We use the Post Office credit card for all American payments, gives you a better rate on conversions. There are a few other cards that also give good rates....I'm sure others on here will let you know what they use.

Don't use most of the standard bank cards...they give poor exchange rates, and don't use debit cards.

    Edit

Looks like Duchy beat me to it.

As far as your first part of your post, it must have been really recently for the mandalay bay free booze cos when we went(7th-17th june,i think we got the reward the tail end our trip maybe the 14th?) my brother did have a few beers(cough 6 cough) for no extra charge,

Can't remember where I read it, and it could indeed be wrong. It could have been on one of the facebook groups.

    hi

Has anyone ever booked a vegas hotel direct?
I ve been looking at the mgm grand hotel and well there seems to be a few deals there(and on the offical facebook site) but i guess my issue is its all in dollars.

Does anyone know how it would work , i mean like us usuing pund sterling ,I suppose they use whatever the dollar to the pund rate at the time over there to calculate what it costs?

so can anyone explain it to me please?and share your experinces as well, though it does NOT have to be the mgm grand hotel direct, just if you have used the hotel directly in vegas

Thanks for reading and hopefully for your reply,

I did book it via MGM when they had a flight and hotel deal going on and got a great deal that included a show as well. We got flights from LA to Vegas organised through it which meant we could get cheap flights to LA and then a few days either side in LA then Disney.

Card was charged at the point of booking for the whole thing which was handy when rate crashed a few months later.

Your Social Media account doesn't meet the minimum engagement requirements recommended by our client.

Anyone know what requirements are? I must have lost some "followers" on my phantom twitter account. Have 10 and account is almost 12 mths old. Used to work fine
