    Afternoon all,

Can I ask a couple of questions of the LV regulars...

I'm thinking of taking my wife to Vegas/LA for a few days starting the middle of the last week of August, returning the middle of the first week of Sept.

Is that a good time to see the place and are there any good offers by the hotels around then? I've been looking at the MGM Grand and Aria.
    Thanks

    hi

My brother and I, in the last 2 years have stayed at the mgm grand both times and just loved it!.So i would highly recommened it, but i guess like most of the hotels in vegas(mostly on the strip i would think?) is they are HUGE!

As for offers, well i think alot of different sites have different offers so prehaps searching around different sites would help?im sure the first page has sites(both for flights, for hotels and i guess combined?) which could be of help.Prehaps if you check the hotel sites you are intrested in for there rates then maybe it would be cheaper?
Have you played the myvegas facebook game? it takes a little while to build LP's up but worth it?
hope this helps a little ,
    good luck!!

Does the $20 sandwich still work in Vegas? I've looked on the sites listed in the op and there are no posts more than about 2 years old! I seem to remember reading that the check in staff were being told not to do this any more, this that true (as it still works in LA, very well).

    Thanks

$20 trick still works some places, but rarely if ever works at MGM.

Personally I dont like the MGM its too big and both times I have stayed there they havent had the room that i have requested

I had to take a smoking room once and the other time a King instead of 2 queens (so had to have a roll away)

Any time is a good time to see Vegas ..August is HOT!!!!!! though

$20 trick didn't work for me this year at Mirage/Luxor/Monte C.....
But then again, our rooms were free anyway :D:D

We gonna go back next year, but think we gonna go in July or August, as you guys keep saying its HOT, and we like HOT! so ideally want to go for when its most hottest for 2 weeks, maybe last week of July, 1st week of August ?

Thanks for that, the fact that the $20 trick might not work isn't too much of problem (but always worth a try :) ).

Might give the MGM a mis then, what do do you think of the Aria or the Vdara? Or do you get a better feel for Vegas when you stay at a hotel with a casino ?

Hot isn't bad, my wife loves it when it's hot!!

I think my post went the other way to what photome experinced, when we stayed at the mgm.
In regards the $20 trick theres a few websites links on the first page that covers this, Im sure one of the links(maybe the top one?) gave peoples expeirnces of how they did ,i think all the hotels were covered, If i recall there were exen %'s of if the trick worked.
I think the mgm grand ranked lower % wise for if the $20 trick worked

I've been a few times in August and wouldn't choose to go then because of the heat but have to go in school summer hols. I'm going next Thursday for 2 weeks and do believe July is usually hotter than August! I'll let you know.
I like the sun but don't stay by the pool like I used to, I can probs manage an hour! We do however like the waterparks, can get a great tan and good fun.

You won't tan any quicker even if it's hotter just probably sweat and burn more!
