Woo hoo, finally won the battle to go to Vegas this year! Think this is our 4th trip in 5 years.

We like to stay at different hotels and get different experiences every time we go, and as we usually go for approx. 10 days every time, we tend to switch hotels while there. This time we are going for Luxor (again, but v v cheap, and last time we had upgrade to tower luxury suite which would be amazing if we could replicate, but not expecting it), Orleans - cos the weekend prices are HORRIFIC while we are there and I hear loads of great things about it from folk on here and then Venetian.

Planning to hire a car and head to San Francisco via Yosemite but not firmed up details. So far I've booked connecting flights to Dublin and all Vegas hotels but no more. Price differences are crazy, it's £400 cheaper flying from Dublin than out of UK, and what's even crazier is that we would catch same flight out of Gatwick for £400 less by starting in Dublin. Tempted to go via Chicago or Philadelphia instead though, both to break up flight and to avoid Vegas border controls.

Long time myvegas players so will see what we can get, seen all their shows so probably just buffets and then MC and NYNY food/beer $50 credits, as well as freeplay. Any San Francisco hotel recommendations would be welcome though!

I know its too late now but if you could have gone from Dublin then you might have got both flights for close to £700 or so.
I did look at doing that but to be honest my mrs is already taking a days unpaid from work and so with all the messing about I thought it would probably dip into the holiday too much. There is also an extra risk we could miss a connection one way or another.

    Is this a good option?
Im sure I saw somewhere maybe on a tv ad that flying with a company flying from ireland, unsure if it was dublin though (air lengugus?) you can clear u.s imaragration.
Is this similar to what you are meaning?

having just back from our trip im sorta looking for ideas for next year(money issues will hopefully be okay !!) and would be looking at doing the d.i.y kinda holiday for next year as we have been to vegas twice and sorta went to the travel agents and said wanna go to vegas whats the cost, ok i ll buy.(though this year we got a good deal !)

My brother and i went to vegas last year direct from glasgow and it was around 9hrs 45mins and felt it was waaay too long.
This year to sorta break up the long flights we both wanted to visit new york so we planned on going to new york(3 nights) before vegas.
Unfournently our flight got cancelled(not sure how often this happens, it was our first time getting cancelled!), we went down to london, got a connecting flight so all in all, it took us like 9hours to get to new york!!(about 1hr 10 to heathrow, I think it was like an hour there and then 7 hours or there abouts to new york)
and what was worse was we had to wait in a long long line for sercurity/immigrations!!!!
though to be fair i have zero patience!
but going from new york to vegas was okay, about 3 hours 45mins or there abouts and no sercurity/immigrations on the vegas side, just got off plane got our bags and was at our hotel(mgm) within like 45mins of getting off the plane.

I hope this may be of some help to you, or give you(or anyone else) some things to think about.

good to ehar you are heading to vegas.does the other person you are going with also do the myvegas?

I know it sounds cheap(my sisters words when i told her i was playing myvegas to get rewards) but if your friend played my vegas to get some rewards, and your rewards already there you can get like 6 rewards between you, a huge saving there in exchange for buffets, shows etc.

Last year was our first time in vegas and we went with thomas cook and we got our resort fee s INCLUDED in our price.
This year we went with mykinda travel, again with resort fees included.
Prehaps if you got a good price from x company you could maybe say to another company " another company has done me this deal, with resort fee s included, can you match it/beat it sorta thing?

hope this may help a lil, best of luck!!:T

no one can add resort fee's, as the agents who collect for MGM don't do it anymore, hence all sellers excluded R fee.....

can you explain that to me?
sorry for asking but i dont quite follow. It just seems an added exspense and im sure alot of people hate the motion of paying for a holiday and then getting added resort fees.
sorry if the question is a lil stupid

I've done something similar for our trip in Sept. Flying into San Francisco and out of LA for £307 each, but we are starting in Oslo. Flight to Oslo was an extra £45 each, but still much cheaper overall.
  • We're off on Weds. So excited! Been before but not for a couple of years.
Several times in the past we have used computers/printers (for flight check in etc.) available for a "by the minute" type fee inside a casino (usually near check in/reception desk) Does anybody know if these are still around. We don't own a smart phone and want to avoid taking the tablet if possible.

    TIA

See the first part of my trip report on page 78.
On US flights leaving Ireland you clear immigration before getting on the flight, and therefore land in your destination city as effectively a domestic arrival rather than an international one.

The resort fees usually include 'printing of boarding passes' in the list of what it covers.

That said there are internet connected terminals close to the lobby in most if not all strip hotels.
