Driving from LAX to Las Vegas, how long should we allow ourselves to / from (weekdays). Also, should we pre book a helicopter tour or the GC beforehand or over there?

We did the LA/LAS drive in March and, with a small diversion for lunch , all told took approx. 6 hrs.
    Thank you all who post.

check back on Monday, i'll let you know :)
To note, we did it last year (drove from Vegas to LA on the Thurs, took 4hrs), and drove back to Vegas on the Sunday late morning, and took about 3hrs 45...
Just to note, we were in a Camero SS ;-) and Sheriff Buford T Justice wasn't always around....
On Sunday when we land in LA, i'll be getting us a big SUV, so I guess normal driving, so will post on Monday how long it takes us :)

It takes about 5 hours from LAX omitting the boy racer stuff.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

On a side note, I finally *cashed in* my vegas lps!!
Are they as easy to do as it looks?

We have so far went for the 2 dinner mgm buffet(91k lps)
    and the 2 mirage breakfast/lunch buffet(61.5k lps)
It seems they have given me a code for each. Now it seems all i gotta do is when we head to vegas(a week on sunday !! so so close) is take the codes with me(and what i *bought*) to the Mlife desk(would this be in the mgm or the respectful hotel im redeeming the reward i.e the mirage?) , tell them im redeeming the myvegas rewards, tell them my name, and show them some id. and then the code and i assume they give us maybe some form of tickets?
any advice if I have did this right would be most welcomed!

on a side note, i have a mlife card from last july(11months ago) and i have signed in to the Mlife site so i assume I am *signed up* to my Mlife?

You need to go to the actual hotel that you will be buffeting in and there is a time limit of I think 24 hours of redeeming to use it but someone else will clarify that for me.

So for your dinner one go to MGM MLife desk and for breakfast/lunch go to The Mirage MLife. Give the rep the code and your MLife card plus ID. They will ask for your room number if it is one of the offers which is tied to a MGM resort stay. They will pair the code and MLife card and then give you a receipt where you then take to the buffet place to redeem. It is very straight forward really.

we haven't had a receipt for these recently, though have never redeemed the MGM buffet reward, we have at Mirage and Aria - think they are now all just added to your MLife card at the MLife desk and when you go to the buffet, you tell them you are redeeming a myvegas reward, give them your card, show your ID and they will run it through the till that way. Same for the MC $50 credit, but they ask which restaurant and then we just had our card over at the restaurant to pay.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

That's even better then. I'm pretty sure we had something to show to the person at the till which wasn't our card as I remember taking something out of my wallet to do so. However that was in February.
