1 way/1 Day rental including Fuel - LAX to LAS = £44 (ish) in Mid size SUV
Cheaper if doing full size car
That's booking via netflights, with Alamo.

Less a Vegas specific query and more a broad USA one inguess. I'm looking to book a large 2 queen bed room for 4 persons, the price is about 50% more if I book for 4 persons rather than just 2 persons. Shall I just book for two and hope the other 2 go unnoticed (I can't envision housekeeping reporting this info and being billed later)? It's a room only rate and the room definetly accommodates 4 persons (Bella Suite, Venetian)

    Many thanks

It's your choice - people not named on the room will not be able to get a replacement key if they lose theirs (and asking for 4 keys to start may be fine, sometimes people do ask for spares). I would just end up worrying about it so it wouldn't be worth it to me (but I worry about anything that can possibly be worried about)....but plenty of people do it and the consensus seems to be that if you aren't obnoxious about it, you will probably get away with it. Sometimes people don't, but it seems mostly those are cases where they brought themselves to the hotel's notice.

Most hotels in the US are based on double-occupancy and, certainly in Vegas, the price for each additional person over 2 can add quite a bit to the price (seems like $20-$50 per night per person is the normal range).
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • lesley74 thank you very much for the trip report, I really enjoyed reading it. Gutted our trip to LV has been and gone, and husband wants to go some where else later in the year (Dubai is currently in his head, but I am not keen).

The other thing about having 4 in a room is that you may not get your bed choice (2 queens) although hotel may have sofa bed or whatever to solve that problem. Another problem is that housekeeping seem to leave 3 towels all the time in the rooms in my experience. Not sure where the magic number of 3 comes from but seems to always be 3 for some reason. You may also need 4 room cards (I've never asked for more than 2 so not sure if that is odd), you may need the room cards to get into the pool area.

I can understand why they would charge a small fee for extra guests to cover any associated costs, but really they seem to be trying to profit a bit much from this.

thanks for the TR, lesley...always really enjoy reading them, though every time I end up feeling depressed I am not in Vegas...it passes. :)

Two hotels we have in mind do. Albeit that's a choice and I see that most don't. Will need to look into rental costs properly of a LA > LA rental keeping the car in Vegas with us vs two one ways (LA > LV, LV > LA).

The only hotels you'll need to pay for parking are downtown unless you feel you need to use valet when of a tip is expected.

We've never had an extra charge for doing this.

Basically- only have two people at the check in desk, don't leave the room like a bomb-site adding to the chambermaid's workload and leave them a tip daily -and you'll find not only will they "not notice" but they'll likely leave you extra towels without you needing to ask. We never ask for more than two keys though.

Sounds like good advice. Two keys will be fine. The room type is guess is guaranteed (2 queens) so I'll take the chance and say we are 2 adults vs 4 to save almost 50%
