Yeah, I would have jumped at the chance to do 8 laps in a stock car!
Although I did 20 laps at Irwindale, its a small track so u don't get the speed like u do in Vegas!
I was gonna do the muscle challenge, but decided to hire 1 for 3 days again this year, aiming for the Penske GT Mustang with Hertz if I can get it, or failing that, Corvette Stingray or worst case, Dodge Challenger....make my own challenge up !!
I'm hiring a V8 GT Mustang for 2 weeks in the states. Have you hired one before? I did consider the Penske GT but it worked out far too expensive for that length of time!0 -
Went to zoo, USS midway (which was for Kevin but I actually enjoyed too!) and on Flagship Cruise today. No cure for jetlag for me yet. Ended up awake at 3am and out for a run at 6am today. Had a margarita tonight though so thinking I might just sleep better.0

Any tips for San Diego Lesley74 would be appreciated. We have 4 nights there as part of our trip in July. Allready planning the zoo for the kids. Might consider USS Midway to.0

@Gavin83
Had the Camero SS Convertible last year for 1 week......
Great car, nice output of around 450bhp ! Wasn't was the best of ideas for using that car when we drove to LA and back, as it did 18mpg at 70mph!!!
I personally wouldn't go for the V8 Mustang GT, as I heard they are restricted to 80mph....
The Penske GT model doesn't have that restriction, although its not easy nor cheap to get that model!
A drive around Red Rock in the camero was great, not the pay part, I mean the main road outside it, not many cops around!0 -
... talking of which, a friend got done the other week for doing 80mph on the California State Route 1
I always assumed you got fined immediately, but they took all his details, and a ticket arrived at his house in the UK not long after he had finished his holiday and returned.
It had a tasty little $400 fine in it!
Careful out there kids
edit: apologies... it was 90mph... fill your boots guys0 -

We bought a 2 day 'Go San Diego Pass' on groupon. I think we got it for $95 less 15 or 20% discount. We've done zoo $48, USS Midway $20 and Flagship $18 so we've balanced it out now. We could do the safari park but I'm not sure I want to go away up there. I think we'll go to La Jolla today, maybe see a beach etc. We drove up the peninsula yesterday from our hotel at National City we headed south on the I-5 and then turned right onto a road which runs up toward Coronado. It was really nice. Scenic on the way up too, we got out for a walk. Then over the bridge from Coronado to the zoo. The Flagship cruise was good too.
Are you driving to Vegas? We are setting out early tomorrow, driving up the I-5 and onto the I-15. Will try to get out 6am at latest, as apparently you can hit traffic on the outskirts of LA. We'll stop at Barstow for a snack, then will head onto Primm for a nosey at the outlets. Then onto Vegas. Will likely take us close to 8 hours with those stops.0 -

Thanks I'll look into the Go San Diego card. How did you get the extra discount on groupon?
We are driving to Vegas but before we get there we have stops in Palm springs, 29 palms and Laughlin.0 -
